“Well, your dad meant the world to me. And now, these kids are my everything. I see where he got his passion from for sure.”

“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.” A little boy comes running up to his side.

“Well, and this kiddo too.” He picks him up. “This is Zackary. Can you say high to Sadie?”

“Hi, Sadie,” the cutest little boy says with a big smile across his face.

A woman I only recognize from pictures Debbie has shared comes up with a smile and her hand out to me. “Sadie, it’s so nice to meet you finally. I’m Jennifer.”

“This is Jennifer, my wife,” Aaron says with pride and a look of absolute awe on his face as he smiles at her.

I shake her hand. “So nice to meet you. This is my husband, Beau.”

She grins. “Yeah, I know all about you guys.”

I look at Aaron, and he closes his eyes as he drops his head back with a laugh.

It’s amazing we were all able to find our paths in life—the paths God meant for us to be on.

Beau was right the night we graduated. Loving him was the easiest decision I’d ever made. Once I cleared out all the fear and bullshit, all I saw was him, and leaving to follow him to California was the best thing I’d ever done.

We left California after our college graduation when Beau got a job offer in North Carolina. Though he didn’t make it to the NFL, we’ll forever be thankful for the game of football because it was what enabled him to get a degree in engineering. With his job we’re fortunate enough to be together as a family every night, and it allows for me to be a stay-at-home mom doing the most important job there ever could be—raising our kids. We truly have an amazing life together.

Seeing that Aaron is just as happy as I am solidifies that I made the right decision.

When Beau places his hand on my back and I look at my three kids, I know this is right where God intended me to be.

Lily

At eight years old, the boy next door changed my life. He was the force pulling me toward him despite our differences. It was like magic.

We understood each other, supported each other and in the process became everything to each other.

But in chasing Trevin’s dream, I lost myself along the way.

Trevin

Through tremendous heartache, she was there. Through fame and fortune, she was there. Loving Lily was the one thing I got right.

Eclipsing her in my shadow, I took from her until she was empty. Now I must do anything to prove I can be the man she wants, no, the man she deserves.
