It’s now that I take in where we are for the first time. “Wow,” I say in honest amazement.

He lifts up and sits the same way I am. “Yeah. The view up here is amazing.”

From here, you can see all of Leighton River and beyond. The sun is just starting to move down the sky, giving off pink, purple, and orange hues that mix in with the clouds floating above us.

We sit like this with silence between the two of us but music still blasting through our ears.

“Barbie Girl” by Aqua comes on, and I turn to him in question. “Is this really on your playlist?”

He starts laughing so hard that he falls backward and lands on his back while I sit and stare at him inconfusion as the song talks about undressing the girl everywhere.

“The guys and I used to mess around to this song in the dugout during Little League,” he finally gets out once he can talk.

“And you still listen to it?”

He sits up with the cheesiest grin on his face. “Let’s just say it’s nostalgic.”

I close my eyes and shake my head ever so slightly. “Whatever you say.”

He nudges my arm. “What? You don’t have those songs that are ridiculous but bring back fun memories?”

“Of course I do, but I always thought that was more of a girl thing.”

“Guys can’t have funny songs too? Does that make us less manly or something?”

I nod. “Or something,” I kid, causing him to nudge me again. “Hey, at least it’s not ‘I’m Too Sexy.’ I would have died if I’d heard that.”

He huffs out a laugh. “What is that?”

I slap my head with my palm. “Oh no. I’m going to create a monster with that one.”

He takes out his phone and pulls up the YouTube app. “Who sings it?”

“I have no clue. It’s crazy old.”

I sit and watch as he typesI’m too sexyin the search bar. Dalton turns the screen so I can see the first video that popped up is by Right Said Fred.

Just by the quality of the video and how old it looks, I inhale and close my eyes, not wanting to hear the crazy song right now, but knowing he’ll never drop it, so I agree, “That has to be it.”

He clicks on it, and the song starts right away without any ads. I chuckle to myself over that fact. Of course the tech guy has the paid YouTube subscription that I’ve always thought was a waste of money.

The familiar voice talking about being too sexy streams through my ear, making me instantly drop my head to my chest in giggles.

Dalton starts to dance next to me. “Hell yeah. I’m digging this one.”

It’s my turn to nudge him. “Oh no. Please stop. You and dancing do not mix.”

He hops to his feet faster than I ever knew someone his build could do and starts shaking his butt to the music. I try to hide my enjoyment, but when he sticks his hands on his knees and starts to twerk, I bust out in laughter.

His expression lights up at my reaction, and he stops as he laughs at himself and looks back to his phone. “Okay, this song gets a little repetitive.”

“You think?” I joke.

“But I saw this one on the list after it.”

A dance beat plays through the AirPod, talking about, “I work out.” I glance up at him in question.

“Just wait.” He grins.
