“What the fuck is wrong?” I called back irritably. “Figure it out amongst yourselves. I have a date.”

“It’s Beau!” he yelled. “He says he’s started a Tiktok accounttttttt.”

“Shit!” I said, dropping my lipstick in the sink and sprinting out of the room.

That was a five-alarm fire situation, and I bolted out of the bathroom and burst into the dressing room to see Beau flicking through his phone.

“No social media!” I said sharply. “It’s in your contract.”

“It is not,” he said, stretching those long legs out, dropping his phone as he turned to look at me, and I saw his eyes go up and down my outfit.

“You don’t know what’s in your contact, you conceited himbo!” I said hotly.

“What are you worried about, El?” Beau asked. “I’m just going to post pictures of my dick and stuff.”

I saw that amused glint in his motherfucking perfect blue eyes and I gritted my teeth in rage.

I threw my hands up. “I have to go out so the rest of you are responsible for keeping Beau’s dick from trending.”

“Aren’t you coming over with us?” Beau asked, frowning.

“I’ll meet you over there later,” I said. “I’m meeting Emilia for coffee first.”

“Don’t bother,” said Beau. “It’ll never work. She’s too serious.”

“I’m serious, too,” I said indignantly.

“You told me an hour ago that if I didn’t share the stage more you would chop my balls off and cook them into chili,” he said.

“And I was serious about that,” I protested, my cheeks flaming. Iwasa very serious person, and I deserved a serious girlfriend like Emilia.

“I’m going to need you to supervise me at the show,” Beau said, standing up. “Or I might do a live tucking demonstration.”

“You will not,” I retorted. “You’re not a chimp at the zoo. You can do this. I’ll stop by if I can.”

Then I turned on my heel and left for my date.

Emiliaand I were getting along very well. I smiled and listened to her describe the color scheme in her condo as we drank our steaming hot cups of coffee.

It was taupe.

I didn’t even know what the fuck color taupe was, but I tried to force myself to listen attentively.

Beau wasnotright, and she wasnotboring.

She asked me how long I planned to do contract work at Heavenly Lights. I hesitated. I felt strangely reluctant to leave, even though this job was a pain the ass.

My phone rang. I glanced down at it and saw Liam’s name.

“Sorry, just someone from work,” I said, resolutely turning it face down on the table. But it immediately rang again, then again, vibrating loudly on the table.

“Maybe you should pick it up,” Emilia said, but I saw a little frown line between her eyes.

Then I heard Cody’s ring, and I flipped the phone over to see it blowing up with one panicked message after another. The word BEAU appeared to be prominent in all of them and I snatched the phone up on the next ring.

It was Liam. “You’ve got to get down here, Elowyn!” he wailed. “It’s Beau! He’s drunk and he insists he’s still going do his trick where he jumps from the roof into a split!”
