“Hey girl,” Daisy says, bouncing out of my bedroom.

I don’t ask her what she was doing in there. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters.

“Hi,” I mumble, sinking into my seat and closing my eyes.

She doesn’t notice my anguish. “You didn’t come home last night,” she perks.

I open one eye. “You’re right. I did not.”

“Well, good for you. Hey, I’m about to head over to Rock’s and help him walk his dogs.”

“That’s nice.”

“Hey, he wants to know if you’d like to have a threesome.”

Now I’m alert. I bolt up on the sofa.

Does she know? Does she know that being with multiple men is my thing now?

Even though I’ve only done it once, does that mean I havea thing?

“Huh? What?”

She laughs breezily. “Do you want to have a threesome with him and me?”

Is she serious?

“No. No, Daisy, I do not want to sleep with you and your new guy. That’s weird.”

Confusion crosses her face. “It’s not weird. You should be flattered. He saw your picture and suggested it. He has a really big?—”

“NO! I don’t want to know about his big anything, and I don’t want to have sex with him or you. Nothing personal.”

She sniffs. “Fine. No offense taken.”

“Dais, don’t you think it would be a little weird for me to mess around with your boyfriend or whatever he is?”

“Sure,” she sniffs. “Hey, what’s new with your mother’s wedding?”

Good subject change. “Oh. It’s coming like a freight train. She got me an ugly dress to wear. And she’s bugging me to bring a date since you backed out.”

She nods. “Sorry about that. Who are you going to bring?”

“No one. Who would I bring? I haven’t got anyone?—”

I stop myself.

I haven’t got one guy to bring.

But I might have three.
