"Don't tell me what I'm not allowed to do. Being in a relationship means you're not allowed to cheat and keep secrets, and you're doing both!"

My heart had shattered even more at the words and as much as I tried not to, I began crying.

As I turned and began unlocking the door, I jumped when his hands pushed firmly against the door. Meaning I couldn't open it. I looked as his arms flexed, caging me here. His face came directly into my neck where my hair laid and he put his arm around me, making my body cave-in at his touch.

"Don't leave me, please. You'll understand, I promise," he begged against my neck.

"You need to let go of me," I cried and pushed back against him as I opened the door.

He didn't stop me but followed after me as I walked back through the house where I found all of Kit's brothers and Lilly sitting in the living room as if they were waiting for the verdict of a reality TV show. I tried to compose myself the best I could but the second Lilly had seen my face, she looked as if she was about to cry. Instead, her face turned a dark red as anger settled over her body and she stood up. She had eyes set on Kit who stood behind me, but she didn't get the chance to meet him. Nick had already stood up and he held his arms around her so she couldn't charge at him.

"You fucking arsehole, do you have any idea what she's been through? How could you do this to her?!"

"Lilly, stop! You've caused enough trouble!" Nick shouted at her from behind.

I glared at Nick then, my feelings towards him drastically changing in that second.

"You all know, don't you?" I asked, looking at each of their faces.

They all looked like a set of puppies, sorry for what they'd done.

"Eve, we-" Jax started but I quickly shut him down.

"What hurts the most is that I saw all of you as my family. Even you, Jason."

As I looked at him my voice broke again.

"You've all deceived me, knowing full well what he's been doing behind my back."

"No, Eves, it's not like that, we can't- "

"Jax," Kit stopped him and I turned around to see him standing there, watching everything from behind me.

I took my chance to leave and as I headed down the hallway I heard Jax speaking to Kit, telling him I needed time to calm down. I was thankful for it because at that moment Kit didn't follow me.

"Eves," I heard Lilly say after me as I rushed down The Beck and back to her car.

She took my hand and rushed away with me, holding my hand tightly. Once we were in her car, I wiped away my tears, only for more to drench my face within seconds. We didn't speak as Lilly started driving, and I was thankful for it. I couldn't bring myself to speak and just as she pulled away, I saw Kit running up to the curb that we'd just reversed away from. His eyes locked directly with mine and I had to look away.

* * *

"Tell me again, tell me everything you saw."

"Eves, I really don't see how this is gonna help. You're just torturing yourself."

We'd just pulled into her driveway. I was searching for anything; anything that would make it not true. Anything that would make Kit, not a cheater. Pulling down the sun visor I checked my face and rolled my eyes. Lilly's parents were home after their latest job reporting in Asia, and I didn't want them to see me like this. Practically as Lilly's parents landed we were waving goodbye to my grandparents. After a year and a half of mourning, I'd persuaded them to take a holiday. They'd spoken about it for months, planning little bits as a distraction, I think. They not only needed it but deserved it desperately. I was so happy when they'd told me that they were heading off somewhere hot and sunny to enjoy a long holiday. They asked me to come too, but like a lovesick puppy, I declined their offer and decided to stay here with Kit. Besides, it was hardly a wise thing to do after everything that had happened. Part of me wished I'd gone with them now.

"Here," Lilly directed me to look at her so she could fix up my face.

We both sat there a little while longer, allowing the puffiness to settle some more before going inside.

"Look who it is!" Lilly's dad, and number one prankster, approached us and grinned at me.

I loved Lilly's parents as if they were my own, and they had always welcomed me with open arms.

"Good to be home?" I asked him, and he nodded while looking me over and chewing at his face.

"Is, er, everything okay?" he asked, looking from me to Lilly and then back again.
