“No buts. Yoga pants are tight, so they are considered immodest.”

“They’re so comfortable!” she moaned.

“Hang on, let me grab the new pamphlet from my bag.”

Saylor left the bathroom and returned shortly after. She thumbed through the pages until she came to the page she was searching for and handed it to Evie. “Read… starting here!”

Evie followed her sister’s finger and began reading, “Treat your body and others’ bodies with respect. As you make decisions about your clothing, hairstyle, and appearance, ask yourself, “Am I honoring my body as a sacred gift from God?” Evie continued to read and then stopped.

“Read that last sentence again,” Saylor requested.

“Let moral cleanliness and love for God guide your choices.”

“The book we were raised on gives us specific dos and don’ts, which was good for our youth, but it had a Law of Moses feeling to it. The Children of Israel thrived on it and judged fiercely those who didn’t abide. The new For the Strength of Youth asks us to involve God in our choices which is how Jesus taught when he was on the earth. He focused on loving others and not judging.”

Evie pondered what Saylor was trying to teach her and it hit her like a ton of bricks. She had been judgmental of Matt and of the other women as well. She wasn’t their judge, nor did she want to be. If she truly was a follower of Christ, then her place was to love and to ask God directly how to live her own life.

“I get it,” Evie sighed. She looked at the pamphlet and asked if she could keep reading it until Saylor left since Evie couldn’t keep anything but her scriptures and journal while on the show.

“You betcha!” Saylor leaned over and kissed her sister’s cheek. “Now… I just heard a gong. What does that mean?”

“That means it’s lunch time. I’m starving, but I’m not going downstairs to get some.”

Saylor laughed. “You have always had a healthy appetite. Let me see what I can do.”

Saylor walked out the door to find a young woman with a staff shirt on. “Can I go get some food for my sister?”

The staff member nodded her head and Saylor followed her down the stairs to the kitchen. Saylor ignored the silent whispers of others as she placed a bunch of food on a plate and turned to head back up the stairs.

“Hi, Matt!” everyone greeted.

Saylor looked to her left to see the man who seemed to be the cause of her sister’s heartache and when he turned his gaze on her, she smiled.

“Excuse me, ladies,” Matt uttered. “I’ll be right back.”

He walked directly to Saylor, gently led her away from prying ears, and smiled. “You look so much like someone who is currently missing from the table. Please tell me you are another sibling?”

“I am.” Saylor smiled. He was a charmer. No wonder poor Evie was a mess.

“And please tell me she’s alright? I was told I had to have my one-on-one after dinner.”

“She will be. There was an accident…”

“Accident. What kind of accident?”

“You’ll see when you see her tonight… and please be kind. Her heart is kind of tender at the moment.”

“Of course!” Matt insisted. “Wait a moment, please.”

Matt excused himself and disappeared down a hall, but quickly returned carrying a letter. Saylor mused softly as the letter resembled the same letter Evie had opened in the limo on her first night. After Lake had explained what happened, they all sat down and watched the entire two hours on YouTube.

“Please give this to her and let her know I’m very excited to be with her tonight.”

“I will.” Saylor took the envelope and motioned Matt to lean down so she could whisper something in his ear.

Which he did.

“I left a bag with Tom that you might want to use,” Saylor whispered softly. She then took her plate filled with food and left the kitchen to get back to Evie.
