After talking it over, she’d planned to call them and decline, but I’d convinced her to stay—stupidly believing the show would only last a season, or flop entirely, considering the premise. It hadn’t occurred to me that a fantasy series would draw such a huge following. Of course,Rose Red’s success was because of her. Who wouldn’t love her?

Now, here I was three years in, alone on the other side of the world, feeling like I’d left half of myself behind.

My office door opened, drawing me out of my regretful musing.

I opened my mouth, expecting it to be Kim, saying she was heading home for the night. Instead, an incredibly smug French bastard entered, as though he had every right to be here.

“Leduc.” Anger snapped through me. Sure, Tarryn and I had sorted things out between us in the past week, but that didn’t change the fact that I wanted to punch him.

“Davenport.”

We stared at each other across the distance. I had the advantage of being seated behind my desk, feeling like I was in control of the situation, but the quirk at the corner of his mouth said otherwise. He wore an impeccably tailored suit that fit him like a second skin. Usually, I was the best-dressed man in any boardroom, but he looked like a model on a catwalk in Paris. No, maybe not. He was too cut to be a model, even if he was pretty enough to put them to shame.

“What the fuck are you doing here, asshole?”

“I do what I please.” He shrugged unapologetically. “I think it’s the same with you.”

“I’m a busy man, and I have a lot of work to do.”

“So Tarryn said.”

Of course, he would bring up my wife. That was why he’d come all the way here—to gloat.

Not knowing if Kim was close enough to hear our conversation, I lowered my voice. “We don’t need you interfering in our marriage,” I said stonily.

“Then why did you invite me into it?”

“We didn’t invite you into our marriage. You were supposed to be a toy, not a problem.”

“Human beings aren’t toys. People will have inconvenient-for-you feelings. What did you expect to happen?”

“I don’t know. Phone calls? Maybe some sexting. I didn’t think you’d show up on her doorstep in Prague.”

“Prague isn’t far to go when my heart is there.”

Fuck this guy. God, I couldn’t stand him.

“Am I supposed to believe that you’ve already caught feelings for my wife?”

“Tarryn is unhappy. I’ll gladly take her off your hands.” Slyness crept into his tone. “You’ve been together so long, I’m sure you’re tired of one another. Just think—freedom. Slutting around. You could live life as a single man. I’ll seduce her so thoroughly that she’ll forget you existed. You get to walk away, no strings attached.”

The idea of sleeping with other women held no attraction for me, and it never had. Did he really think I’d jump at the chance to abandon her with him?

“You’ve proven it was a mistake to follow through with my hotwife fantasy. There’s no need for you to come here and rub it in my face.”

“Speaking of rubbing things in your face, make sure to think about who fucked her last the next time you go down on her.”

Rage surged.

I was going to fucking kill him.

The memory of answering the video call only to see them fused together, and his smugness as my normally passive wife rode him, made my brain short circuit. I was seething, unfortunately aroused, and not sure what to do with my emotions, as though it were happening all over again.

It was his fucking expression.

It served me right, deciding to play with a stranger who wasn’t part of the kink community. He was deliberately trying to provoke me.

“You can think whatever you like about our relationship, but your interference isn’t going to ruin things between us. Our marriage is solid.” And I was firmly in control of my emotions. “I expected you to behave like a gentleman—to give adequate notice so that I could make sure she was safe and comfortable rather than you showing up there out of the blue and seducing her.”
