All the air left my lungs. That sounded like a pre-break-up apology.

I clenched my jaw, willing away the burning in my eyes and the thickness in my throat. If this was over, the last thing I wanted to do was give them another reason to laugh.

“We want to keep seeing you, and we want you in our relationship. We’re just not sure what that will look like.”

“I don’t want to be your whore. If that’s all you want from me, you can hire a professional.”

“You’re not our whore. We don’t think of you that way.” She slid off Valor’s lap and came to me. “Can I hug you?”

I shrugged testily but couldn’t look at her.

“No?” she asked, waiting.

“I’m not good at hugging,” I warned.

“That’s okay.” She waited for me to nod then came closer.

Rather than wrapping her arms around my neck, she hugged my waist and tucked her head under my chin. The feeling of being trapped made me want to break out of her gentle hold, but this was Tarryn. She would let me go if I asked. She was safe.

My whole body felt stiff and uncertain, but I put my hands on her back. I forced myself to soften so she didn’t feel like she was hugging a rock. She rubbed my back, and my eyes blurred. Without meaning to, I panicked and backed out of her embrace.

“Sorry,” I mumbled.

“You really don’t like hugs,” she observed, not sounding insulted.

I grimaced. “I told you I was bad at it.”

Valor cleared his throat. “You’re right, we aren’t being fair to you.” He twisted his lips. “Sharing her physically is hard, but sharing her heart and our life together? I know you already are, but letting go of my jealousy isn’t easy.”

“I’m not asking the two of you to let go of each other. I’m just asking you to make some room for me.” I widened my eyes, silently pleading.

Uncertainly, I approached him. He stood his ground.

We stood toe to toe, with me well inside his personal space. His breath tickled my face.

“You must know how I feel about you,” I whispered. I ran the tips of my fingers over the scar I’d left on his chest. He shivered.

We eyed each other warily.

I slid my hand up his chest from my initials, and curled it around the back of his head, then tangled my fingers in his hair, holding him still.

“You both belong to me. I know that goes against your dominant tendencies, but I also belong to you.”

The tension in Valor’s frame eased somewhat.

I pressed my mouth to his. His tongue met mine in a languorous kiss. I heard Tarryn sigh, and she leaned into us. When our kiss ended, she kissed me next.

“We should have left you a note,” Valor conceded. “Tarryn wanted to.”

“You should have.”

“And the note should have invited you to join us here.” His mouth tugged up at one corner. “To be honest, the only thing we’ve done other than sightsee and have sex, is talk about you.”

“Really?” I waited for some indication that he was being sarcastic, but he seemed sincere. “You haven’t only been complaining about me?”

“No.” He chuckled, pulled me closer, and kissed me again, as though it was the most normal thing in the world.

“I do love fucking the two of you, but I don’t want it to be only that.”
