My father looked away.

“I know I went about this in a wrong…”

“Wrong? You made a huge mistake, and I was the one who paid for it. If it hadn’t been for Serena or Ryder…” I took a deep breath.

“Who do you think sent them, who do you think supplied them with what they needed? I might not have treated you right, but I tried giving you everything you needed to survive,” he replied.

“That does not absolve you from all your wrongdoings,” I snapped.

“No, it doesn’t, but I don’t think anything will, and that is a fate I am willing to live with because it means everything I did was for your survival,” my father said, sounding so sad as a tear fell down his face. “I would do it all over again because you survived.”

I didn’t know what to say to that because as much as I wanted to hate my father and blame him for everything, I couldn’t. Looking away as the tears fell down my face, I saw Yaya by a door on the other side of the dining room. She was looking at my father nodding at him.

“I know what I’ve done to you can never be forgiven, but please give me a chance to make things right,” he said, bringing my attention back to him. “I cannot undo the past, but I can be a better man for the future and you, Katarina with your mates, are the future. This was always supposed to happen.”

My siblings all stood up.

“I’m so sorry, Kat.” My oldest sister, Nora, looked on the verge of tears. “You deserve this and we will stand by you.”

“Thank you for taking care of our sister,” Octavia said, looking at my mates with gratitude. “I’m so glad you’re home and I’m sorry too. You are our future.”

I nodded at them unsure how to go forward with them. We were never particularly close, but all my emotions were running rampant.

“Also, congratulations, we are so excited to be aunts.” Nora had tears in her eyes. “The kids will be so excited to have another cousin.”

The mention of my nieces and nephews brought me so much joy, making me touch my stomach.

“Now, I think it's time for you to take your rightful place, Katarina,” my father said, walking towards Yaya, nodding at her before exiting. My siblings followed my father looking back at me as I realized they were all dressed up.

“Come child, your future awaits you.” She smiled at me as I stared at the same violet eyes as my own. “Let’s change before we go out there.”

She raised a black dress up.

“What’s going on? Is this necessary?” I said, rolling my eyes wanting nothing but to stay in my cozy leggings.

“Yes it is, but you’ll thank me.” She caressed my cheek. “Now I brought this for you boys…”

I didn’t hear what else she said as I stared at the beautiful gown in front of me. I had no makeup on or even my hair done, but I shrugged out of my clothes, slipping on the lace dress that flared out like a princess. The lace sleeves were off the shoulder going all the way down to my wrist.

“I feel like I might be overdressed,” I said, turning around to see the men in dress pants and a button-down shirt all in black. Yaya cupped Zev’s face saying something to him as he looked down at her with adoration in his expression.

They looked up at me giving me butterflies when Yaya came to me, turning me around to do a quick braid and pin it up. A knock sounded when she finished.

“You ready?”

“No, I don’t even know what's going on and to be honest the only reason I’m going along on with this is because you are here,” I said truthfully.

She smiled. “Today is the beginning of the rest of your lives. You’ve given us hope, Katarina. Let's go.”

She grabbed my hand, motioning for the guys to follow us. The door opened for us when I realized we were walking into our ballroom. It was full of witches and witch shifters, the place was almost packed as Yaya walked me towards the chair my Father normally sat in.

“We welcome our High Priestess, Katarina Belladonna-Fallon and her mates!”

I had many ideas of what we were walking into, but this was not it. Yaya left me at the chair, motioning for me to sit when the entire room including my father kneeled. I stilled, not knowingwhat the hell to do, but for a fraction of a second, I felt the Goddess.

You did well child, it's fitting that you rule. The Belladonna and her beasts. You were born for it, use your magic responsibly because you might need it. Caston was right, a god war is on the horizon, much closer than I expected, but this was one step in the right direction.

Her presence eased my thoughts when I realized she was right about leading, a Belladonna and the Fallons were supposed to lead and if a god war surfaced, we would handle it together.
