Aeon and I had power-shared. I didn’t even know we had done it until he tucked me into bed, and I replayed the entire scene in my head. I have my own magic, there’s no other way to explain what had happened, but as I was lying in bed, I couldn’t feel anything different.

The moment I felt his magic intertwine with my own, it was like nothing I had ever felt before. It was a moment of togetherness and unity that I didn’t even know was possible. I felt his apprehension, his fear and his love within his magic. Aeon’s love wasn’t flashy or big. Aeon’s love felt like a warm blanket straight from the dryer on a cold day. It was soft, all-encompassing, and most of all it felt so damn good and reassuring.

A tear escaped, running down my cheek as I felt his love once again. I had felt his love through the bond before, but right now it felt magnified. All I wanted was for him to come back into this bed and let me bask in his love. Looking over at my watch, I realized it was close to one in the morning, making me begrudgingly get out of bed. The room wasn’t as cold as it had been in the last week, making getting ready so much better.

Lucien walked into the room straight to me, kissing me like he was starving for affection. I was still in just a sleep shirt when he picked me up, groping my ass.

“What was that last night? I seriously could have come in my pants, from feeling both of your pleasure,” he said against my lips, as he sat down with me on his lap. “Zev and I had to go to separate rooms because all we wanted was to join you, but I knew you guys needed to work on yourselves.

“I don’t know,” I said, pecking him. “I think we power-shared, I think I felt my magic and we intertwined it with our pleasure. It was nothing I had ever felt before.”

“I don’t know what it was, but it definitely felt like we had bonded again.” Aeon walked into the room, looking apprehensive.

Lucien turned around to see him and I expected him to scold Aeon.

“Witches bond too.” Zev’s voice was right behind Aeon’s. “It’s usually with a ceremony but maybe you didn’t need one, maybe the goddess saw fit to have you bond another way.”

“He’s right, it requires a ceremony and that’s why Caston’s and my marriage never felt real. You usually tie your magic to each other as a sign of your union. If we had bonded, I would have been able to use a bit of his magic and vice versa. We would never be as powerful with our borrowed magic, but that’s how we’ve kept our magic so strong as Belladonnas,” I said, looking at Zev and wondering if bonding was the right thing to do. Maybe I needed all the power I could get to get us out of here?

Zev and I caught each other’s gaze like he was thinking the same thing I was, he looked at me with a longing I wasn’t used to. I looked away when my heart fluttered, thinking that was probably the worst idea. I couldn’t leave all of them to suffer if I failed.

“So does that mean it will happen with the rest of us?” Lucien asked the question I think we were all thinking.

“I don’t know,” I said, hoping that it didn’t happen, but also hoping it did because I was being selfish. All I wanted was for us to be complete even if it was just for a couple of weeks.

The silence between us was deafening and I was nervous about what everyone was thinking. We had been in such a weird funk lately that I didn’t know where we were going from here. Ostara was in a few days and that meant we had a little more than a month to break this curse.

“I know none of us want to talk about it, but we have to decide what we are going to do,” Aeon said, sitting on the bed still looking worried.

I crawled off of Lucien’s lap feeling the need to be close to Aeon. He held out his arm for me. I crawled into his lap feeling a lot better. His body relaxed against me when he took a deep breath wrapping his arms around me.

“I haven’t heard anything from Serena, and she hasn’t answered any of my calls,” I said, turning around in his lap to face the guys.

He wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me against him like he couldn’t get close enough.

“So, we can’t be sure she is going to get the items we need or that Ryder is going to come through either,” Zev said, walking to the bed.

“We have to use what we have now, we can’t afford to wait for your sister,” Lucien added.

“Can’t we do both?” Zev asked.

“I don’t think we have enough resources to do both and besides, setting up both of them is going to require a lot of time and energy,” Aeon said.

“We can’t wait for Serena, but I think Zev is right, we should do both in the hope that Serena and Ryder come through,” Isaid, thinking about all the modifications we would need to do. “We need a back-up plan.”

“I think we need to hold out for Serena,” Aeon said.

“Let’s vote,” Lucien said. “Everyone in favor of just waiting for Serena?”

Aeon raised his hand.

“Everyone in favor of just working on the alternative,” Lucien said, raising his own hand.

“Everyone in favor of doing two spells.”

Zev and I looked at each other raising our own hands.
