Aeon tensed next to me while Lucien pursed his lip. They were both unhappy but that didn’t matter because we voted like a pack and if this was going to work after we broke the curse, we needed to get used to it.

The followingnight Aeon and I got to work on figuring out what we needed for each spell. Mr. Potter was with us as he helped us figure out what we could get more of and what we needed to substitute.

“I don’t think we can get away with using something else.” Aeon ran his hand down his face, clearly getting more frustrated as we had to substitute more and more things.

“What if we use a tourmaline?” Mr. Potter asked, while he set a book down. “This book has plenty of substitutes, it might take a while, but I’m sure we will find something for everything.

I smiled at Mr. Potter, loving the man even more.

“That sounds like a great idea,” I said, as I picked up the book, looking at an array of things we could use to substitute. “Look here, it says tourmaline can be moon powered or left out in the sun with an oil bath.”

“Do we have enough?” Aeon asked, looking over my shoulder at the book.

“We might, I think I might take inventory of what we have in storage and the herbs we have as well, but I’ll bring refreshments before I start.” He smiled at me before he left.

“Kitten,” Aeon said, kissing my mate mark.

“No hanky-panky, sir. We need to figure this out,” I said, pulling away from him even though my need for him felt almost as bad as when we first mated.

He chuckled, giving me a boyish smile that I loved so much.

“As much as I want to fuck you until you scream my name, we need to get this done. I was going to ask you if you had talked to the other man down in the dungeons,” he smirked.

“No, when we went down there, he was unconscious, but we tried talking to Clodius and he didn’t speak a word to us.”

“I spoke to him two days ago, and he said some interesting things.”

“A and Katarina…”

Lucien walked into the library looking serious.

“Shit, what happened?” Aeon looked worried.

“You have to see this.” He motioned for us to follow him, and we walked to the dungeon in silence.

As soon as we came down the stairs, the smell hit me. Someone had died.

“Please tell me it was Clodius,” Aeon snarled.

Lucien shook his head, making me even more confused. The closer we walked to where we were going, the harsher the smell grew. I didn’t know what I expected to see but seeing the bits and pieces of body parts littered everywhere was not what I was expecting.

The urge to throw up was strong, but I was glad I wasn’t the only one who was affected. Lucien looked like he was ready to throw up as well.

“What the fuck happened?” I asked, with my hand over my nose and mouth.

“That fucking asshole.” Aeon stalked passed us to the cell that Clodius was in.

“How the fuck did you do it?” Zev yelled as we walked up to the open door.

Clodius was smiling at him with a mouth full of blood looking triumphant.

Zev punched him again, a sickening crunch sounded in the cell.

“You heard us, didn’t you?” Aeon didn’t waste any time punching Clodius. “You knew he was going to tell us something didn’t you?”

He swung at him again, knocking him out.

“Son of a bitch!” Aeon yelled and walked out of the cell.
