“I think we all need to go for a run,” I said, getting into bed with her.

“A run will be good for you guys,” she said, turning around towards me.

“I meant all of us,” I said, rubbing my nose against hers. “We’ve been so out of sorts that I think we all need a reset. A run will help balance us and work out our frustrations.”

Her body stiffened; her eyes watered as she bit her lip.

“Kitten, I know something is going on, please just tell me,” I said, kissing her forehead, wrapping an arm around her waist bringing her body flush against mine. “I can’t help you or ease your burden if you don’t tell me.”

“Aeon, you couldn’t help with this burden, as much as I would love for you to ease this enormous task I need to complete, this rests solely on my shoulders.” She sounded so tired.

“I feel like there is something more. What aren’t you telling us, my love?” I brushed a lock of hair away from her face. I know I shouldn’t push it, but I had a nagging feeling she and Zev were keeping something from Lucien and me.

“Aeon, it's…”

“I’m going to let Mr. Potter know we are going for a run, maybe he can start a cleanse for us to prepare us for the next couple of days.” Zev interrupted Katarina.

“That sounds like a great idea,” Katarina said, her tension immediately releasing from her body. “Come on, let's get the moon goddess' blessing and we can reset.”

Katarina rolled off the bed as frustration rose in me. I got up from the bed to see Katarina and Zev share a look. They weren’t telling us something and I detested that.

I walked out of the room before I said something I would regret. She called out my name, but I kept walking down the stairs, angry at this situation. We were a pack, we should all be honest with each other, if we had secrets now, then what would that do to our relationship after the curse was broken?

“Whoa.” Lucien's voice broke my inner thoughts. “Are you ok, babe?”

That pet name always gave me butterflies. Katarina called us babe or baby on occasion, making me feel all kinds of stupid things. It was such a simple thing, but it felt like her way of claiming me and when Lucien said it, I loved his claim on me.

“No, Zev and Katarina are keeping something from us and I’m upset about it.” I walked past him to the front door. “If we are starting our bond like this, what would stop them from doing it in the future?”

“A,” Lucien said, following.

“Do they not trust us?” I snapped, getting more worked up.

“A,” Lucien said, again.

“We are a pack. If we can’t trust each other. Who else can we trust?” I kept talking.

“Aeon!” Lucien pulled me back to look at him. “Babe, have you thought that maybe whatever they are keeping from us is nothing big, or maybe Katarina is ashamed because she lost control of her emotions that day. Or maybe the curse is weighingheavily on her shoulders, and she has doubts that she doesn’t want the rest of us to know.”

Everything Lucien was saying had some merit, and as much as it all made sense, I still didn’t think that was the case.

“He’s our Alpha and she is our Luna, together they run a pack and if you start doubting them now. What does that say?” He grabbed my face. “Trust them. I do.”

He kissed my lips softly before I deepened the kiss. It had been a while since we had been alone together. I almost wanted to skip the run so we could get lost in each other, so I could get a reprieve from all this worrying. Lucien swept his tongue against mine one more time, ending the kiss before I wanted him to.

“Have faith babe, we owe her that much,” Lucien said, resting his forehead against my own.

I took a deep breath inhaling his scent that had been changing since Zev had mated Katarina. All of our scents were now mixed together to make a unique scent, so if any wolf smelled us, they would know we were a sub-pack. But I could still smell the underlying smoke scent he always carried with him. I took another deep breath, letting it relax me because he was right. I had to trust them, even though I was nervous about what they were hiding, there had to be a reason for it.

“Did I come just in time?” Katarina asked, making us turn to look at her.

She was dressed in shorts and a long-sleeved shirt. Her grin was mischievous and playful, making me feel guilty about doubting her.

“I can head back inside and watch from the shadows,” she said, walking up to us with heat in her eyes.

My stomach clenched in arousal, all I wanted to do was get dirty with Lucien and Katarina. All I wanted was to throw her against the tree while I fucked her and Lucien fucked me. Fuck all our frustrations out.

“Don’t get him started.” Lucien playfully nipped at my jaw.
