I was insatiable.

My alphas took care of me just like they promised. Every need I had, they met, and then some.

A heat should have just been about sex, or at least that was how I’d always thought of it. This was so much more. I was falling for these guys. My heart was invested.

But there were still a lot of unanswered questions. They didn’t even know my real last name, for fuck’s sake. I could put it off a little longer, but eventually, everything would have to come out.

On the second afternoon of my heat, I woke to find Griffin poised above me, anticipating my needs. He took me slowly, drawing out my pleasure. Itturned out I liked him gentle as much as I liked him rough.

Afterward, he held me against his chest, and I felt the fever start to break. I was more awake. Clear-headed.

I looked around to see where the others were. Ben seemed busy at the stove. Michael walked past him, sweat at his temples, carrying a full pot of steaming water toward the bathroom.

The pipes were probably frozen. It made me antsy. I didn’t usually sit around when there was work that needed to be done.

“You don’t feel as hot.”

I nodded, even as Griffin’s deep, rolling voice made my cheeks warm.

“My heat is breaking.”

I propped myself up, my forearms on his chest, looking down at him. His intense stare made me glance away. Those blue eyes saw too much. He made me feel exposed.

Griffin reached up and brushed my hair away from my face. It was a mess after all the time spent in the nest. I forced myself to meet his steady gaze.

“We need to talk,” he said.

My stomach twisted. I opened my mouth to answer, but there was a noise behind us, and he looked over my shoulder. Then he grinned at me.

“First, a bath.”

“A what?”

We didn’t have hot water. A bath was going to be pretty unpleasant. I could probably wash my hair in the sink, though. Maybe manage some basic cleaning with a washcloth or something.

Michael’s voice came from the doorway to the bathroom. “A bath. You’ve gotta come now, while the water’s still hot.”

I blinked. The lights in the cabin were all out. We definitely didn’t have power. What the hell?

Michael came over to the nest and reached out his hand. I took it, and he helped pull me up. Before I could say anything, he reached under my knees and lifted me into his arms. When he got me to the bathroom, I gasped.

The bathtub—an old clawfoot tub that sat in the middle of the tiled floor—was full of steaming water. Ben came up behind us carrying a pot.

“Last one. I can always heat more if it gets too cool.”

He brushed past Michael and poured the water into the tub. I could only gawk. It must have taken them an hour to get the tub filled this way, one stockpot at a time.

“Wow. I don’t know what to say. Thank you.”

Michael’s chest thrummed with a purr, and he bent to kiss my forehead.

“You’re going in, but we’ll be getting cleaned up too.”

The tub was only big enough for one person, but he sounded like he had a plan, so I nodded.

“Get her in the tub before she freezes to death,” Griffin growled from the living room.

Michael laughed. “Yes, sir.” He looked at Ben, who stood next to the tub and was starting to take off his clothes. “Temperature good?”
