I would always feel safe with him.

Maddie nodded and took a step back, satisfied. I gave her a long hug while Griffin grabbed my bag, then we said our goodbyes and headed out to his SUV.

We’d been driving for a few minutes when he spoke.

“She cares about you.”

I looked over at his strong arms gripping the wheel. His large hands, the flex of his forearms as he moved. Being close to him, surrounded by his spicy juniper scent, always gave me a thrill. I was distracted for a second before my mind came back to what he’dsaid.

“Yeah. Maintaining my friendships is important to me.”

“We’d never ask you to give up anyone to be with us.”

“I know.”

My conversations with Griffin tended to be blunt like this. He laid out his thoughts and his heart to me regularly. Like now.

“We love you, and that means making you happy.”

He’d said things like that before, but I’d never reciprocated. It was time.

“I love you, too.”

His body went rigid. He didn’t say anything. I waited, studying his profile as he checked his mirrors, put on his turn signal, and pulled off the quiet road onto the wide shoulder. He put the car into park, then turned in his seat to face me. His hands were still tight on the steering wheel, even though we weren’t moving.

“Say it again.” His voice was strained.

A tear fell down my cheek as I stared into his beautiful blue eyes. I smiled.

“I love you, Griffin. I love all of you. I want you to bond me. I want to be a part of your pack.”

He let out a breath and shook his head like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. I would have worried when he looked out the windshield insteadof at me, but his smile was ear to ear. There was a hint of mischief in the crinkle of his eyes.

“I’m not going to take my hands off the wheel, because this isn’t the appropriate place to fuck you and mark you. I’m driving you home to do it there.”

I laughed before I realized he wasn’t kidding.

“Tonight?” I squeaked.

He pulled back onto the road, and I noticed we were going faster than before.

“Did you want to wait?” It came out as a growl.

Did I? No. No, I did not. I squirmed in my seat, anticipating the pleasures ahead.

My voice was a little husky, but very steady when I answered.

“Nope. Tonight it is.”

GRIFFIN

Longest drive of my damn life.

I probably leaned on the accelerator a bit, and we made good time. Neither of us spoke much. With her perfume filling the car, I needed all my attention on the road.

It was the perfect night. Michael was out of his sling, cooking dinner. He was still recovering his arm strength, but he was a fast healer. Ben was making the place look romantic with lights and flowers.
