“I warned you it was going to be complicated,” Wendy whispered, her voice raspy and weak.

The rogue pack had arrived.

CHAPTER 31

Ry

Fucking hell.

Things could be so great right now. I could be upstairs fucking my mate into oblivion. My dick sure wanted more. Round one this morning hadn’t been quite enough. I could go for a second one, and a third, and maybe even a fourth.

Deep down, even though she’d probably whine that she was too sore, Kaci wanted it, too.

I could be holding her in my arms, squeezing her tight in my lap, keeping her safe and sound, but here we were in the middle of a magical clusterfuck that may have gone right, or it may have gone terribly wrong.

I didn’t fuck around with magic. Not if I had a choice.

Wendy looked like shit. The power it had taken to perform such an elaborate ritual had taken a lot out of her, and Samael looked none too pleased about it.

Not only that, but Caelum was going to have to buy some new windows after this was all over.At the very least.

The howling of the rogue wolf pack outside echoed through the night, their eerie cries carrying a promise of danger and a big ol’ fucking fight.

This was the worst.

I cocked my head and met Caelum’s gaze. Then we both turned to our mate, who looked fucking delectable in her new silver digs.

“Lookin’ good, sweet cheeks,”I quipped, and she turned her head towards mine.

She crouched and growled, the sound as low and as threatening as she could muster.“Now is not the time, Ry,”she exclaimed, but there was a playful tone to her voice that told me she was loving every second of my attention.

“After we fight off these bastards, I’m going to fuck that sweet little ass so hard that you feel me every time you sit down for a week,”I teased, but I was also being one hundred percent serious at the same time.

“You’ll have to catch me first,”she replied, lifting her head in a huff.

“Gladly,”Caelum growled, and I delighted in watching a delicious little shiver of pleasure race down my mate’s spine. Her sleek, silver coat shimmered in the dim light of the room, accentuating her lithe and sinuous figure. Her eyes, the same mesmerizing shade of blue that she rocked as a human, were just as captivating as they were beautiful.

Her ass looked just as bitable in her wolf form as it was in her human one.

I’d won the fucking lottery when it came to my mate.

She was right, though. I should probably be focusing on the rogues rather than her beautiful little ass…

The haunting howling of the rogue wolf pack grew louder by the moment, and the tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Just as the unnerving howls reached their crescendo, the massive ballroom door burst open. The rest of our pack members immediately changed into their wolf form, flooding the room with our small army of teeth and claws. The presence of their wolves was reassuring, but if the rogue pack had secured their own ritual, then the lot of us were in for the fight of our lives. We were many, but these boys were gonna be big as fuck.

In the heat of the impending battle, our wolves quickly moved into a protective formation. Caelum took the lead. I stood by his side, ready to defend our pack.

Behind us, Kaci took her place, naturally falling in line with the pack as their queen. It was fucking beautiful to see.

The remainder of our pack members fell into line behind her, their expressions fiercely determined and their loyalty forever unwavering.

As the tension in the room reached its peak, Wendy murmured a soft, mystical incantation. In an instant, a shimmering portal opened before her, and with a nod to the rest of us, Samael gracefully picked her up, then nodded to Macy to go first. Macy, like a little girl lost at the shopping mall, looked a little panicked and was hugging the shit out of Silas, but eventually she forcedherself through the mystical doorway. Ombre was next. The appearance of a shadow man stood for a moment in the doorway before disappearing, and then Samael carried Wendy away. As soon as they were through, I watched as the doorway closed right behind them.

Cowards.

That being said, I understood the urge to flee, especially when they’d done more than enough to help us and give us the best chance in this fight as supernaturally possible.

“You should run, Kaci,”Caelum murmured to her.“We’ll protect you.”
