“I’ll text you when I’m settled in the hotel. I’ll do a video call, and you’ll see I’m alone.” He kisses me. “I am yours this month. Only yours.”

Yet, I also fooled around with Ford.
Emery gets out and holding my hand, steers me safely onto the sidewalk and under the building’s darkblue awning.
As we reach the entrance, Ford and Ashton turn the corner, laughing, their clothes and hair out of place.
They spot Emery and me, and we spot them.
All of us freeze, and considering how guilty they look, I wonder if Emery and I have the same shameful grins on our faces.
Nothing has gone to plan in this arrangement.
Ash jogs my way and kisses my cheek.
“Hey, baby.” A smile turns to angst toward Emery. “Kind of late to be getting home from work on a Friday night?”
“We weren’t working.” I push a hand through my hair.
“You fucked her?” Ford asks Emery through clenched teeth.
“No. But I plan to.” He pulls me to his side.
“Where were you, Ford?” I turn the tables on him because I’ve not heard from him.
“Let’s go inside and talk, Bernie.” He holds his hand out to me.
“What... What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, baby.” Ash holds his hand out to me, too.
They both want to see me about something.
Emery stiffens next to me and checks his phone. He’s so late because of me.
“Call me later.” I lean in and kiss his cheek. “Tell Jess I said hello.”
Hesitating for a second, he exhales as his eyes slip closed.
“I will, sweetheart.” He takes my mouth in a powerful kiss right in front of Ash and Ford.
I sink into the kiss, so I don’t embarrasshim. I’m fully on board making this relationship a sexual one this month.
Like I’ve already done with Ford, and I know I’ll be in Ash’s bed, too.
Yikes, what does that make me?
Lucky, I imagine Zara saying over next week’s macchiato.

Emery sends a stiff nod to Ash and Ford then gets back into his limo.
I watch him go and wave.
