When that was done, Tanner even came over to let us know how she was doing. Yeah, I was really starting to like him, but I didn't like the way my chest was hurting like this. A man my age shouldn't have frights like this!

"She'll be in Sports Medicine," J.D. said as Tanner headed back over the rail.

Yeah, and I had to take care of this boy too. Damn, my baby girl was getting herself quite the collection. How the hell did she manage these two without some help? Lucky for her, I was here to do that now.

So I unlocked J.D.'s chair and started pushing. When we reached the bottom of the ramp, a security guard stepped up, lifting a hand to stop me.

"Riders only behind this point," he snapped.

"Who the fuck do you think I am?" J.D. shot back. "Get the fuck outta my way. I got places to be."

"Sorry," I told the man and kept pushing.

Surprisingly, the guard didn't follow. Maybe he'd recognized J.D.'s shit attitude? Who knew, and right now, I didn't give one single damn. But when I turned to find the sports medicine area, J.D. was immediately pointing the other way.

"Over there," he directed.

"Tell me where to go, boy," I growled, pushing him as fast as my legs could go without leaving a walk.

Ok, so I was stretching them out good, and this might be a jog for anyone else, but they had my daughter! My little girl was hurtin', and I was supposed to be lookin' after her. But once J.D. realized I didn't know my way around, he started calling out the turns before I got there.

Then we reached the door. That crazy motherfucker threw up his good leg, using it to slam the door open, and I pushed through before it could hit either of us. But once we were in the main room, I gave up on his chair and started looking around.

This place was filled with big-ass recliners that had tubes on them. They whooshed, so probably medical, and most had a rider in them. I just hoped these boys had some idea of where I needed to be.

"Where's Cody?!" I snapped.

One man pointed towards the back, and that was good enough for me. Storming that way, I forgot all about J.D. I needed to make sure Cody was ok. I had to see her, to hold her hand, and to be on the damned ambulance if they were carting her out of here.

The back had a little hall. That hall had two doors. I banged on both, slamming my fist against them just to make sure someone knew I was here. When no one answered fast enough, I did it again.

"Where's my girl!" I bellowed.

The door directly at the end opened and the biggest motherfucker I'd ever seen walked out. He was puffed up, looking like he was ready to throw down, and coming right at me. The man was Black, nothing but muscle, and his western shirt only made his shoulders look broader.

"I need to see Cody!" I insisted. "You'd better let me see that girl orelse!"

He just leaned in, using his size to force me to take another step back. Then one more. "What's the else?" this giant of a man asked.

I stepped again, realizing I was back in the main room. That was when the man finally stopped stepping into me. My eyes lifted up, looking for his face, then up a little more. His scowl made it clear he wasn't scared of me none, and truth be told, I might be just a tad scared of him.

I swallowed, the sound much too loud.

"That's Cody's dad," J.D. called out.

"Oh!" The Black man offered me his hand. "Anthony with physiotherapy. She's right back here."

"Fuck me," I breathed.

He chuckled. "Didn't expect a big guy?"

"Notyoursize."

He glanced back. "Someone's gotta hold those boys down. I'm good at it. Then there's her..." And he tossed open the door he'd come out of.

Sitting on a medical table, Cody was upright and looked just fine. Sure, she had her arm held close, and her show shirt was gone, but the pink tank looked good with her chaps. The smile on her face was the intoxicated kind, but it had appeared when she saw me.

"Daddy!" she muttered, somehow managing to slur the word.
