The floor it was. And then the couch and the chair and the wall, right against the reinforced glass window. Twilight played along the tree line by the time we finally collapsed in each other’s arms, curled up on the floor with a blanket stolen from the love seat.

I eyed the window. With our supernatural stamina, we were never down for long, and the wilderness outside was calling to me.

Cole followed my gaze. “I think my little wolf wants to go for a run.”

I flexed my fingers, eager to feel the dirt beneath my paws. “Maybe.”

“If you run, I’ll chase you,” he warned. “And when I catch you, you’ll regret it.”

I couldn’t stop the shiver of excitement. Running was fun, the wind in my fur urging me on. But running with a large, determined predator at my heels? Intoxicating. And Cole’s version of regret tended to wind up with us both sweaty and exhausted, my body pushed to the brink but very sated.

Very, very intoxicating.

“I won’t make it easy.”

“You never do,” he assured me. A playful glint lit his amber eyes. “But it’s always worth it.”
