"Well, it's a good thing you’re not coming with me on the flight, then, isn’t it? You would have been a pain in the ass," I chuckle.

Hakeem laughs as well, but you can tell that it’s a sad one. It's a gloomy day for him.

I’m not only his master or whatever you would call it, but I’m also his best friend and brother. If anything should happen to me, he won't take the news easily, that's for sure.

I imagine he’d go on a rampage of his own, making plans to kill whoever is responsible for my death. Just as I am doing to kill whoever is responsible for my father’s death.

Everyone gives advice until they experience this situation firsthand. They’ll never understand you until then, and I can’t blame them.

I step onto the threshold of the house for what may be the last time and turn back to face my brother.

"Inshallah, brother, I will return, and when I do, my father’s name would have been avenged," I touch my tongue and swear.

"I know you willOmir," he calls me by my native name. It’s something I notice he does very rarely, only when he wants to make a very deep emotional connection.

I feel this one, and for a split second, even consider abandoning my mission and going back to Oman with Hakeem.

Oh, I don’t change my mind. In fact, I turn around and walk. I walk until I hear his breathing no more. It’s hard and labored and closing the door shuts it off completely, and I do so as soon as I am out of the house.

”Allah, please help me complete this task so that I do not leave the people that love me behind in death. Instead, it should be Thomas who should pay the heavy sum. And being as careful as I can, I would make sure he does pay.”

I pray.

REBECCA

Trying to keep your bold face when you know you’re about to commit a crime is hard. I didn’t know that until today.

Earlier in life, I’ve never been the mischievous type. It’s for the simple reason that I have never found anything to be mischievous about. There was very little for me to do wrong because I had everything.

I was a content little girl, and if I wanted to do anything wrong, it wouldn’t be in secret.

I walk so awkwardly I almost trip on my heels, but I manage to save myself at the last moment. Besides, the only person that saw it was Thomas, who is only concerned about spotting the flaws in me.

He’s not going to suspect that I’m hiding something; instead, he will simply think I’m being stupid or goofy. This is where the planet excels. When I trip and almost plummet to the ground, a pair of strong hands catch me mid-air.

My bodyguard is with me, and he wouldn’t let any harm come to me, or at least he’s acting the part well. He has been acting this part for months, and I see no reason why he would stop now.

We are both in the hangar, approaching the chopper. Thomas got here much earlier than we did, so he waits for us with a proud smirk on his face.

“You’re late,” he grunts.

“You’re early,” I fire back.

“Is that supposed to be a bad thing?” He cocks a brow. “Worry about that later when you want to make mundane comments.” I shake my head and brush past him into the chopper.

I’m surprised when Jordan greets him. “Good morning, Mr. Hilbert,” I hear the most respectful tone from him.

“Bonjour, boy. How was your night with Madame?” Thomas titters carelessly.

At least he’s right about the fact that Jordan did spend the night with me. We didn’t really do anything.

I simply begged him to stay the night with me because I didn’t know if we would ever do it again, and he did. We spent the night In each other’s arms, cuddling and giving each other our warmth.

Now it’s time to do the needful…at least that’s what Jordan thinks.

“Great,” he replies, and Thomas gives a wide-eyed smile of realization, especially when I don’t reply negatively to the comment.
