"Please, have a seat," he says, motioning to the chair near his desk.

As I take my seat he watches me intently. There's a pause, like he's weighing his next words but he comes out with it anyway throwing me off balance.

"Had I known they were sending someone as beautiful as you I would've requested a longer trip."

WESTON

I watch a warm blush spread across her cheeks, realizing I'm treading dangerous territory. Despite this, I can't resist; she's gorgeous.

The second she walked into my office, I couldn't stop staring at her. Those tanned legs of hers, got me thinking about how they'd feel wrapped around me. Her blonde hair is up, showing off her slender neck, and I can't stop picturing my lips there. Her eyes are the bluest I've ever seen and she has full natural lips that make me want a taste. She looks to be around Abigail's age, I'd say mid-twenties, a road I swore to never go back down.

Dammit. What's gotten into me? If I'm not careful, she'll bring out the possessive bastard I thought I'd buried. The kind that might make her second-guess her decision to come here.

"How was the drive?" I ask. The question is more so for me to reroute my mind away from where it's headed.

She chuckles, "Not as bad as I expected. Got in last night."

Quinn's voice is a melody, it's got this sweet edge that just pulls me in. My muscles tighten and I'm sitting straighter. Myheart's thumping, I need more air and I'm hating that she's got this effect on me. After Abby, I was done letting anyone get to me like this. Been good at it, until she walked in. Now, it's like I can't even breathe right and I need to take back control.

"You think you'll miss home?" I ask, curious to see her reaction.

There's a flash of something in her eyes but she's quick to hide it. Her smile comes back, but it seems a bit forced. "No," she says firmly, "I need this break."

I nod. "Good, because we could use someone like you here for a while." There's something beyond her looks that stands out, something that tells me she's just what we need.

She nods, her eyes never leaving mine. "Certainly."

I feel my pants get tighter and there's a tug-of-war going on inside me. One part wants to take charge, to dominate, but another part is shoutingdon't go there.

Against my better judgment, I decide to push the boundaries a bit. "Let down your hair," I say. It's more than a request; It's a power play, a way to gauge her commitment, to see if she's willing to follow my lead.

She looks confused. "What?"

I nod, trying to keep my face expressionless. "No buns in the office. And tomorrow, wear a black dress. You're accompanying me to a meeting."

Quinn's hand moves slowly towards the pins in her hair, then stops. "No, maybe I'll wear my hair down tomorrow."

"Maybe?" I can't keep my eyebrow from raising. Is she pushing back?

She gives me a small, defiant smirk. "Maybe."

I can't help but chuckle. Her resistance snaps me out of it and pulls me back to reality. I'm reminded of the professional line I shouldn't cross and decide to focus my attention back on the task at hand.

"Fair enough," I say, opening the folder on my desk. Time is of the essence.

I point out a key item. "In two weeks, there's a charity event in Nashville we're attending. We need to contribute to boost our company's profile."

She looks intrigued. "Contribution? What exactly do you have in mind?"

I give a nonchalant shrug. "That's where you come in, darling. I need you to come up with an Idea on how we can be an asset to the event."

She pulls a notepad and pen out of her purse. "I can do that. What's my deadline?"

I smirk. "You'll present your idea at the meeting tomorrow."

I'm aware I'm springing this on her quickly, but from what I've gathered, she's more than capable of handling it.
