She frantically starts looking through the boxes and breathes an audible sigh of relief to find it amongst the boxes we’d already gone through.

“Which boxes do you need us to carry up, Wildcat?”

She jumps and blushes, apparently not having heard Ry walk up behind her.

“Oh! Um, these two, and then I’ll need my boxes of clothes that have already been gone through.”

“Head that sexy ass of yours upstairs, Spitfire, and we’ll bring everything up for you. Is Sasha getting ready with you?”

“Shit! I should text her. She’ll probably want to borrow some of my stuff unless she was able to get stuff from her room at Dad’s place.”

“The twins live with you guys?”

“Yeah. It’s a big house that has four extra bedrooms. Mom and Dad always wanted a bunch of kids, but unfortunately, they couldn’t have any others after me. When the twins started hanging around our place more and more, Mom and Dad gave them each a room so that they had their own space when they needed to get away from their foster parents.”

“Well, if they didn’t get their stuff today, we’ll see to it that they can get it tomorrow. Same with Travis and Ethan,” Ry says and I make a mental note to talk to him about this later. I’m guessing Levi’s going to want to live close to the twins, so we’ll need to account for that at some point.

After a few minutes, we carry everything that she needs upstairs. As we’re setting down the last of the boxes, Sasha appears in Levi’s doorway.

“????. We need time to get ready.??????? ???? ???????.”

I chuckle at her words, guessing she’s kicking us out. After giving Levi a kiss, I head back downstairs with Ry.

“Okay, now that we have girl time,???????????. How’re you doing?”

I sigh as I start combing my hair and debate how much to tell her.

“H??! Whatever, put that frown on your face,???????????! If those assholes did something to hurt you, they’ll be tasting my steel!”

I spin around, ready to tell her she’s jumped the gun, but seeing her standing there, wearing a shit-eating grin, has my body relaxing as a strained chuckle escapes. Should have known she wasn’t serious since she hadn’t slipped into her broken English.

Sighing again, I turn around and make myself focus on my hair as I try to not cry, or throw up, and fill her in on what Fang’s done this time.

“I mean, how the hell did he know exactly which box he needed to put his box with the scan drive into? I rearranged those boxes so much because I had stupidly boxed up some stuff I needed, so I had to search through them. Besides—very few boxes were labeled. I wish I knew how long he was in my apartment before I showed up.”

“What time did you leave before your final?”

“A little over an hour, so I wasn’t gone for long. I was done with my final in about forty minutes. I stayed in all morning for last-minute cramming.”

“Okay. Different topic so your eyes don’t get any redder,” she says.

I breathe a sigh of relief and then gave her a smirk. “So, Colt, huh?” I grin when she blushes and bites her lip.

“He’s very nice for a??????. We talked for a while when he was working behind the bar earlier. Sucks that we can’t hang out tonight. He has to guard the gate.” She pouts and I chuckle.

“How long has he been prospecting?”

“Almost nine months, so he’s close to patching in. If they all vote ??, that is.”

“Do you think anyone would vote no?”

“I don’t think so. From the little I’ve seen so far, everyone seems to like him. Granted, he does get some shitty jobs from the bit that I saw this afternoon, but he doesn’t gripe or complain in the least.”

“That’s good. I like Colt but don’t know Drae that much. Apparently, he just started prospecting about four months ago.”

“I didn’t get much of a vibe off him yet. He hung around while we talked, but that’s about it. He was always just on the sidelines.”

Sasha has an uncanny ability to read people, and I always trust her judgment. I frown as I’ve also noticed Drae on the sidelines earlier too when we were eating. He kept eyeing our group weirdly.
