“So, I seriously won’t be able to know anything about what you’ll be doing to keep me safe? What will be done to find Fang and his club? Wouldn’t I be safer if I knew even the cliff note version so that I can keep a better eye out?” She looks between both of us as she crosses her arms. “Did you even mean what you said about me being able to help torture them and be the one to kill Fang?”

“We don’t like it, but yes, we meant what we said about that. The rest is club business to keep you safe. The less you know about our methods to go about that, the–”

She huffs, cutting us off, and stalks toward the door. We both reach out to her, but she raises her hand to stop us. “Nope. Should have known you two would go all caveman.”

My chest tightens and dread fills me.

She pauses at the door and turns back toward us. Her hurt-felt gaze bores into both of us as she shakes her head. “This is my life. I should at least know some of what’s going to be going on. I’m not saying that you had to tell me every detail, but I should have at least been able to know the gist of what was going to happen. I won’t be a prisoner in my own life, and I won’t let anyone control every aspect of my life. No matter how much I love you both.”

She opens the door and leaves. While she doesn’t slam the door, she does close it roughly. My chest aches at her words, and I rub it as I stand staring at the door. Did I just mess up the best thing that came into our lives?

The door opens and Bear’s angry gaze settled on us before he shut the door.

“You are my Pres and Enforcer, but little ninja is my family, and she comes first. What the fuck did you two say to her that had her storming out of here like she was going to light someone’s ass on fire and then cut them up to feed to the wolves?”

Narrowing my eyes at him, I barely resist chewing him out for talking to us like that. “Honestly, that’s between us three, and we’ll talk more with her later about it.”

Bear shakes his head and crosses his arms. His gaze hardening even further. “Let me guess. She wanted to know about what would be done regarding her safety and the others’ safety. Knowing you two numbskulls, you probably pulled the club business line on her, didn’t you?”

My jaw clenches as my anger grows. It really is none of his business what we discussed, even if he is her family.

“You two probably just messed up royally with your woman. You’ll be lucky if she even speaks with you again.”

The dread that was filling me grows even heavier at his words.

“Do you think your dad never talked to your mom about club business?”

I look at Dragon and we both shook our heads. In all the years that Dad was in the club and then later as their President, we never heard him discuss anything with her. Bear shakes his head at us and frowns.

“I know for a fact that he did because I was there for some of it. She was his sounding board sometimes. Others, she helped him through some of the rougher things he had to do. Not to mention she helped him with what he saw when his sister was taken.”

Bear shudders at the memory and my breath hitches. I remember Dad talking to Mom about when Aunt Ella was taken and what had been done to her. I just hadn’t known it was something he did with the club when he went to search for her. Then again, we were only five when that happened, so we might not have known it was club business that they were talking about. Bear’s humorless chuckle has my attention returning to him.

“I see you both are now starting to realize things a bit more. Let’s get the guys in here and discuss a few things. The women are still cooking and when I walked in here, Levi was heading into the kitchen. Even as pissed as she is at you, she’ll still finish making breakfast. If you’re lucky, we’ll finish in here before she makes a run for it.”

Panic fills me that she’d leave, especially after all the things Fang spewed at her earlier.

“Call the others in.”

Bear gives me a chin lift, and I risk a glance at Dragon as Bear heads out into the common room. He’s as nervous as I am that Levi might leave while we were in here.

“We gotta make this right, Ry. I can’t lose her.”

“Same. No way in hell am I gonna lose her, either. She’s the best thing that ever happened to us.”

He nods and goes back to his seat as the others filter back in. I love Levi and can’t live without her. Sure, she could probably do better than two alpha asshole bikers, but we’re selfish and don’t want to let her go.

When everyone was back in their seat, I turn to Smoke. “Did you get anything from the phone call?”

He nods and, after a few clicks, a map comes up on the wall.

“The call was made from somewhere around this area, which is about a half-hour northwest of here. There are a couple of houses close together, so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which house the call came from. With a little more digging, I can probably find it out. Might not be a bad idea to get a few eyes on the area and see if we can learn anything else. As for Black Plague as a whole, they seem to have been pretty busy. There are reports of a lot of women in surrounding towns going missing. Reports also state that a lot of men wearing Black Plague cuts are seen in the areas prior to the abductions. Fuckers are doing this in our backyard.” Smoke pauses before he looks at me.

“You aren’t going to like this, Pres, but most of the women that have gone missing resemble Levi—red hair, green eyes, and a curvy figure.”

He presses a few more buttons and pictures of the missing women come up on the wall. Rage fills me with what was happening to these women. Women who were most likely ripped out of their lives because they looked like my Wildcat.

“Pres,” Phoenix says quietly.
