“My guess is Sasha told Colt, but I’d have to pull their phone logs. Do you want me to?”

Sighing, I shake my head as I slip back into my cut and stalk out the front door with Thor right behind me. “Not right now, but if I find anything else out, I’ll let you know. Thanks, Smoke.”

He grunts and hangs up.

“I’m putting a fucking vote in that we don’t pull shit like this again,” I mutter, but I know Thor’s pissed about how this all went, too. At least he has the guts to look guilty. He could have fucking overridden the vote, but he didn’t.

Taking the porch steps to Bear’s house quickly, the door opens just as I’m about to knock.

“Kinda figured you’d be here before long,” he says as he lets me pass with a fist bump. Looking over my shoulder, I catch the glare he gives Thor. Behind him trails Colt. At least Bear’s on my side, though it shouldn’t surprise me. He was just as pissed as I was when it was brought up that we shouldn’t tell Spitfire.

“If you guys are going to take Levi, I can take Sasha back to my room at the clubhouse,” Colt suggests. I give him a chin lift in thanks because I’m pretty sure it might get loud once Levi wakes up in our arms. And it’s probably not going to be the good kind of loud.

Walking into the living room, I notice the girls are cuddled up against each other on the couch as they sleep with a blanket covering them. However, judging by her creased forehead and the fact that every now and then her body jerks slightly, she isn’t getting good sleep.

My gaze wanders around the room and based on the junk food on the coffee table, it looks like they had a movie night and the TV screen saver shows they watched Boondock Saints. Nice.

“I can—” Thor starts, and I turn and cut him off with a glare.

“Don’t even fucking start with me, Thor. I don’t even know the next time she’ll willingly let me touch her, so I am going to pick her up, carry her home, and hold her until she wakes up and probably stabs me. …Actually,” I pause and pull out my phone, quickly tapping out a text. “There, Patch is on standby, just in case.”

When I turn and carefully remove the blanket covering them, I can hear both Colt and Bear’s quiet laughter. I wasn’t joking either—I’m almost damn positive I’ll be bleeding tomorrow, I mean later today.

Kneeling, I gently get my arms under Spitfire and wait as Colt kneels next to me and does the same with Sasha before we both lift at the same time. Once again, I give Colt a chin lift and start my way back home.

About halfway there, she shifts in my arms.

“Why Dragon?” she asks sleepily.

The fact that she’s using my road name makes my chest ache even more. Fuck, that probably isn’t a good sign. Sighing, I bend down to kiss her forehead. “I was outvoted and Judge’s idea was the best one proposed.”

“Outvoted how?” She rubs her eyes and yawns, but at least she’s still talking to me and I’m not bleeding yet.

“Let’s get inside before I tell you the rest.” I pause and then lean down closer to her ear so she’d still hear me. “Just in case they planted others around that we didn’t catch.”

She looks up and locks eyes with me. After a few moments, she nods and then curls back into my chest.

I hasten my steps even though I’d rather slow down and keep her in my arms. But I know she’d probably get pissed if I did that and then my chances of being injured increase.

As we near our porch steps, Thor darts around me and opens the front door. I head straight upstairs and set her down on the bed. Walking over to my nightstand, I pull out two scanners and hand one to Thor. We both start checking the room and the surrounding hallway. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Spitfire has scooted back and is now sitting cross-legged on the bed, hugging a pillow as she waits for us to finish.

Once we’re finished, I walk over and sit down next to her. My fingers itch to reach out and take her hand, but I’m not sure if I should take my chances.

When she reaches out and threads our fingers together, the weight on my shoulder’s releases, and my body sags in relief.

“Even though I’m dead tired, I know I’m not going to get good sleep until I know why it was decided to break my heart and stomp on it the same day you guys asked me to be your Old Lady. The same day you asked me to marry you. The same day we found out our family is growing. Why?”

Fuck, we really screwed this up. Now, this day will always feel tainted because of this shit with Nicole.

“Well, technically this all started after midnight, so it’s not the same day,” Thor says softly, and the glare Spitfire pierces him with is damn fucking frightening.

“It’s close enough, Thor! Now I want details, or I’ll be waking up Jax to get them myself from the call and video logs.”

Spearing Thor with a glance, I hope he keeps his mouth fucking shut so I can say what I need to.

“We noticed Nicole checking her phone a lot after eleven o’clock and were starting to get worried. Since we couldn’t all go into Church, we decided to do a group text. It was noticed by several brothers that she was always keeping an eye on what I was doing, who I was talking to, or where I was going. The guys all know she’s my ex, so that, coupled with her always watching me, prompted someone to suggest that I lure Nicole down to the interrogation room.”

I don’t go into further detail about what’s down in our hidden basement cause I know Thor’s already given her a tour and added her handprint in case she or anyone else needs to access our third panic room.
