“No one else had a better idea, so we agreed to go with that plan. However, it was not a unanimous vote for how we’d act it out, Spitfire.”

“I take it you won’t tell me who voted which way, can you?”

“Sorry, Wildcat, but that should probably be kept unsaid.”

She sighs and shakes her head. Clearing my throat, I continue.

“I voted to tell you what we were going to do so you wouldn’t worry. It was suggested not to tell you so your reaction would be more real and would spur Nicole on so we’d have an easier way to capture her. The latter vote won out.”

She’s silent as she picks at the edge of the pillowcase in her lap.

“Does anyone have an issue with me being both of your guy’s Old Lady? To be your wife?” she asks quietly.

Silently I curse my brothers for making her doubt herself, I pull her into my lap even if she may still shank me. I bury my head in her neck and hold her tight.

“No one doubts you, Spitfire. Everyone was just worried about getting her downstairs before she could have alerted whoever the fuck she was working with.”

“If no one doubts me, then why couldn’t I have been in the loop and helped out? I did four years of theater in high school; I do know how to act when it calls for it. I mean, it seemed like everyone was trying to prevent me from going into the clubhouse when they realized that was where I was headed. Then inside, the guys still tried to get me to turn around and only stepped back when my blades came out.

“Seeing all of them trying to pull a fast one over me felt like a huge disrespect to me not only as a person, but also as your Old Lady, as your fiancée, and even though they don’t know it yet, the mother of your baby. Add onto that, but by disrespecting me, it’s also disrespecting you guys. I get that you all can’t tell me everything, but you could have told me to follow you, but not too close behind Nicole, and then play along to get her downstairs.”

Her voice is almost a whisper at the end and fuck, does it break me.

“I’m sorry, Wildcat. Honestly, I think because this whole shitshow blindsided us, we were left scrambling to figure something out as quick as possible. I’m not making excuses, just letting you know my opinion. And I didn’t overturn the vote because then they’d be questioning if I was playing favoritism since it would affect you,” Thor says quietly.

Shit, I didn’t think about that. That would be a fast way to lose respect in the club.

Thor scoots closer and takes her hand in his. Thankfully, she doesn’t pull away.

She looks at him for a while before turning to look at me. “I need you both, as well as the rest of the guys, to know that just because I’m a woman, I’m not fragile. I’m not made out of glass that will easily shatter when met with a roadblock. I’m also going to put it out there, that while I may not agree with what the club decides sometimes, I will do what’s needed to protect my family. I just ask that you never pull a stunt like this again.” She pauses as she looks between us again. “Think about it this way. If you had a sister and a different club decided to do to her what you all did to me tonight, how would you react?”

My grip tightens around Spitfire as rage burns in me and I know without even looking that Thor feels the same way.

“Exactly. Now you somewhat feel what I felt tonight. I want you guys to remember that feeling and honestly, tell that to the guys too. I’m sure at some point there will be more girlfriends or Old Ladies and wives, so I don’t want them going through what everyone put me through tonight. Our world is tough enough as it is. Let’s not add even more hurdles on top of it.”

“We’ll talk to the guys, Wildcat.”

Spitfire nods and then yawns. “Good, now let’s get ready for bed. I’m beat.”

She crawls off my lap and scoots off to bed before going to her dresser and grabbing some clothes. I slide off the bed and stripping when she clears her throat. Looking over at her, she’s standing by the bathroom door, gnawing on her lip.

“This week, I expect everyone in the clubhouse for supper. Starting tonight. If I find out they eat elsewhere, there’ll be even more hell to pay.”

The hard edge in her voice makes my chest tighten. The thought of us getting off kind of easy about this shit show is instantly thrown out the window. Fuck, I’m not sure what she has planned for payback, but I have a feeling none of us are going to like it.

Later that morning, I woke up to an empty bed and a note on Thor’s pillow.

Morning, Wildcat. We’re at the clubhouse to question Nicole again. Left a bit before 9 am. No need to worry about breakfast today—we sent the prospects out for donuts. There’s a box down in the kitchen for you. We also scanned the rest of the house and it’s clean. Text us if you need anything.

-Love Ry

My mouth starts to drool at the mention of donuts and then a little giggle escapes when I see Nick’s messy handwriting at the bottom saying he loves me, too. While I am glad my guesses were correct, I’m still pissed at them about last night. This morning.Grrr.

I quickly get up and grab clean clothes before stripping on my way to the shower. Once the water’s warm, I hop in and take a quick shower. I’m frickin starving and those donuts are calling my name. Oh, and coffee. Can’t live without my coffee. Even if this baby doesn’t seem to like it.

As I dry off and get ready, my mind wanders to what we talked about last night. They told me about the talk with Nicole and I’m not surprised they haven’t gotten anything out of her yet. She has to know the guys won’t seriously hurt her, which has me looking forward to the task I have planned later today.

Grabbing my phone off the nightstand, I text Sasha, and almost instantly; I hear a knock on the front door. A second later, my phone pings.
