She must feel my eyes on her because she turns, grins, and rolls her eyes. “The guys said I needed to rest more, but I still wanted to help, so we compromised. As long as I stay off my feet, I can continue to do stuff.”

Nikki tsks at her. “You know it’s for the best, Levi. You were running yourself ragged and your ankles were swelling. I had to pull the guys in on it so you’d be okay for tomorrow. Besides, you can still tell us what you want us to do while sitting your ass down. We need you looking sexy for your men tomorrow,” she says with a wink, which has all of us laughing.

“I hear you, I hear you,” Levi mumbles as she tries to hide the fact that she’s smiling.

“So, ladies, what are we cooking tonight?” I ask, and Mama Astrid winks at me.

“I told them about your idea and they all loved it. Your guys have already filled up their jar for all of you to start with on Monday. So, since we’re in town, we’re going to continue with the Junction Creek suggestions. Tonight is pan-seared steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, asparagus, and corn. It was Beast’s idea.”

My chest warms and when I look over at Levi, she winks at me, pointing over to the open shelves above a counter. A chuckle escapes when I see a large glass jar, and true to Mama Astrid’s words, it’s already stuffed full of suggestions.

Shaking my head, I get to work prepping the potatoes and asparagus alongside Levi and Susie.

We’re almost done when I hear a commotion from the main room. I place the lid on top of the potatoes to help keep them warm and then look through the pass-through window. What I see has my blood boiling.

“I said fucking no, bitch. Now get the fuck off me,” Timber yells as he grips Gigi by the shoulders and literally throws her off him. She trips in her heels and falls on her ass.

He stands and zips himself back up and that’s all it takes.

Timber sees me making a beeline for Gigi, and the look in his eyes is begging me to believe that he didn’t do anything with her. I believe him, but she’s still going to pay.

I slip on the knuckles Sasha gave me in case I need them before stepping up behind Gigi as she tries to get to her feet.

I kick her feet out from under her and she falls forward onto her hands and knees. Gripping her hair, I yank her back, land a punch on her face. I pull on her hair harder so that her neck is barred and she’s looking up at me. Her hands fly up, scratching at my hand and arms with her fake nails. Grabbing the leather band out of my pocket that Sasha also gave me, I quickly wind it around her wrists and then twist the band.

Hard.

She screeches as she tries to get out of my hold, but with how I have her, it’s like I have a leash tied around her wrists.

From the kitchen, I can hear Sasha laughing followed by what I think is a high-five. When Sasha gave me the leather band before we left this morning, I never thought I’d need to use it this soon.

“What have I told you about touching my Old Man, Gigi?” My voice is low, cold, and surprisingly, dark.

Then again, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised after yesterday.

I’m still processing everything I learned and did. Maybe it is like Timber said. That I have a little darkness in me. That I’m not all sunshine and roses. I mean, I knew I wasn’t all sunshine and roses, but I never knew I was capable of the things I’ve done recently. And I don’t regret a single second of it.

Gigi snarls at me. “He shouldn’t have to lower himself to being with trailer park trash. Especially one that’s all scarred and damaged. He deserves someone beautiful at his side who knows how to properly take care of a man.”

Her words have me narrowing my eyes at her. As far as I knew, she shouldn’t have known about me being injured or what happened to me. Levi told me that what happened has been kept hush hush here.

Same as for at Junction Creek.

Star and Candi just think I have some bruised ribs which covered up how slow I sometimes moved. Only club members, Sasha, and Mama Astrid know what happened. Well, Sasha may have told Colt, but I don’t think she did.

“What makes you think that I’m scarred? Damaged?” I ask and seconds later, growls ring out throughout the room.

The room goes silent and Gigi pales as she visibly swallows hard.

“I—I...” she stutters but doesn’t continue.

Shuffling sounds reach my ears, but I don’t take my focus off Gigi. However, I can hear people walking down the hallways and a few doors closing. I know the guys have circled around us, but until someone tells me otherwise, I’m not letting her go.

Someone steps up in front of Gigi.

“Answer her,” Thor says and somehow, Gigi pales even further as she flinches. I break my gaze with Gigi and look up at Thor.

His face is thunderous and I swear I can see storms brewing in his dark blue eyes that almost look like they have flecks of smokey grey in them right now.
