Levi laughs again. “Four days, but did you already forget about the part where your dad is an insanely talented hacker?” she asks as she wiggles her eyebrows at me, which has me laughing nervously along with her.

I look down, my fingers running along the seam in the leather cushion of the couch and my gaze catches on my engagement ring as I contemplate her suggestion.

Would it be so bad to marry Liam tomorrow? I want to, but there’s still a tightness in my chest at the thought that Mom wouldn’t be there. Then again, what I said before is true. I don’t know if she’s alive still. And I know Levi’s right. Mom would want me to protect myself, she said so herself multiple times in her journals. The club has already shown that they’re willing to protect me, too.

Plus, Levi’s right. Being legally tied to Liam would give me more protections outside of the club. More resources to call on should we need them. Should I go ahead with the ceremony or just have Dad marry us on paper?

Shaking myself internally as Levi’s words come back to me about what I want, no one else, I will myself not to cry.

“Even if I wanted to, there’s no way I’d be able to find a dress. Your wedding is tomorrow.”

She grins at me. “Is that your only concern left?”

Nibbling on my lip, I nod.

“If I could find you a dress, do you want to get married tomorrow?”

“Yes,” I whisper.

The smile that lights up her face pushes away my doubts, but my nerves remain.

“Well, then. I have a call to make.”

A half hour ago, Levi and Sunshine came out of Thor’s office, grabbed the other ladies, and made a beeline for the door. All I got in passing was a kiss on the cheek and saying that they’d be at Levi’s house.

I did catch a few little slips about wedding dresses and I wonder if Mae will take up Levi’s suggestion of marrying me tomorrow.

Someone’s hand lands on my shoulder, squeezing it.

Turning, I grin, seeing Dragon standing there before he comes around and sits next to me. I’m still pissed at him, but he’s also one of my best friends.

“Sounds like we might be both getting married tomorrow.”

Shaking my head, my grin widens. “I definitely wouldn’t be against it. I wanted to marry her the day I met her, but I knew she wasn’t ready.”

He laughs but also nods before his face turns grim. “I’m sorry for all the shit I said about her. I didn’t realize how drunk Smoke was when he said that stuff about Mae, but still, I shouldn’t have just taken his word about who she is.”

My jaw clenches as memories of his words wash over me. “Please say you’ve pulled your head out of your ass and won’t say any of that shit to another brother when they bring someone around.”

His face hardens. “I won’t and I’ve been kicking myself for it ever since. I’ve known you for years and should never have said that shit.”

Giving him a chin lift, we clink beers. Having known him for so long, I know he’s not good at this sort of thing, but at least he said he won’t pull that bullshit with anyone else.

All of us have been shooting the shit for the past couple of hours. Most of us have been giving shit to Thor and Dragon about this being their last night before being fully shackled.

They both share one of their twin looks and I grin, shaking my head.

I still don’t know if Mae wants to get married tomorrow, and it’s taking everything in me not to storm over to their house and ask her.

“Never know, could be another one fully off the market tomorrow and shackled just the same,” Reaper says as he laughs.

“Just you wait till you find the one that knocks you off your feet, Reaper. You’ll do anything for her once you find her,” I growl at him in response, but there’s no heat behind it.

A look crosses his face and I clamp my mouth shut. Fuck, I shouldn’t have said that after everything that’s happened.

Then, surprisingly, he gives a small smile and shrugs his shoulders.

Well, fuck.
