“Show us if baby B is a girl or a boy, Reaper!” shouts Dragon.

Reaper gives Dragon a wicked smile before he starts up his bike and another plume of pink smoke appears.

Cheers erupt, even louder than before, and I can’t help but laugh at the stricken looks on both Thor and Dragon’s faces before they change into huge grins as they take turns hugging and kissing Levi.

Behind me, I can hear whispering and turn to see Timber talking to another man, but I can’t see his patch to know his name. He passes Timber a pile of envelopes and he nods before patting my hip.

“Can you get up, Sunshine? I need to hand out the winnings.”

A laugh escapes as he wiggles his eyebrows. His eyes sparkle with mischief as he looks over at Thor and Dragon.

I stand and he leans down, placing a quick kiss on my lips before walking with the man he was talking to over to Thor and Dragon. When the man turns and lets loose another ear-piercing whistle, I can see from his cut that his name is Smithy.

“Quiet down, assholes and ladies,” Smithy says, his voice growly and booming so loud he’d make a perfect school principal. He’d definitely be able to quickly set straight any students that are causing trouble in school.

Rather than saying anything out loud, both Smithy and Timber pull envelopes out of their cuts and get to work handing out everyone’s earnings, and ending with Levi.

“Here you go, my Queen,” Timber says as he hands Levi two envelopes and Smithy also hands her an envelope.

That’s not the first time I’ve heard Levi being called a Queen, and if it were only Timber saying that, then I think I’d have an issue about it, but I’ve heard four different people calling her that over the last few hours. I’ll have to ask him later about what they mean by her being a Queen.

“This is from our club. One envelope is your share, and the other is a gift for the babies from everyone who placed a bet.”

Levi looks like she’ll start crying any minute as she takes the envelopes and hugs Timber before shouting her thanks to everyone. Shock fills Thor’s and Dragon’s faces before their eyes narrow on Timber. They go to speak, but Smithy cuts them off.

“My Queen, this is a gift from us Junction Creek guys for you and the babies.”

Levi hugs Smithy right as Dragon growls. I kid you not—he freaking growls.

“You all bet on our kids?” Dragon roars, which has everyone laughing. Even Levi.

“You too, Wildcat?” Thor asks, his annoyance evident on his face and in his body posture.

“Of course. It’s just a little good-hearted fun. However, I have no idea how everyone kept it from you two for the last couple of months,” Levi says with a smirk as she tucks the envelopes inside her cut.

Both Thor and Dragon level everyone with a hard look that promises retribution. I have a feeling the next time someone’s woman gets pregnant, those two will be causing all types of havoc for the lucky couple.

Stepping slightly away from her men, Levi claps her hands and everyone quiets down.

“Alright, everyone! First, I would like to say thank you again for the gifts and helping us celebrate. Now, before I start bawling from these hormones, it’s time for our much anticipated knife throwing contest! Everyone, grab yourselves a drink and possibly a snack. We’ll get started when everyone’s settled in!”

After getting myself another beer and Mae a water, I wait for her at the table with the rest of the women. They all decided to move to a closer table so they could see better. Scanning the crowd, I start to get nervous when I realize Mae left for the bathroom five minutes ago and has yet to return. Worry gnaws at my gut as my gaze once again cuts through the crowd, looking for Smoke, but he’s nowhere to be found.

Fuck. He better not be messing with her. I haven’t told Sunshine yet, but I heard everything she said about her mother earlier, even though she told me a little about the drug part before. I need to talk to her later about her stepdad and that asshole Bruce or convince her to let me be there when she talks to Levi tomorrow morning. It’d be easier to help and protect her if I know what happened.

The memory of her saying she’d leave if Smoke or the club won’t help her has my stomach twisting in knots. I’ve seen the hateful glares Smoke has been sending her ever since she got here. I’m not positive if she’s seen them or not, but judging by the number of times I’ve felt her body tense up and shrink in on herself, I think she has.

If the club sides with Smoke, I’ll protect her myself. Though I don’t think the guys would turn away a woman in need of help. While I don’t know much about her, what I have seen and heard leads me to believe she’d never pull a stunt like that just to weasel something out of Smoke, the club, or me. She doesn’t seem like the person who’d manipulate you into doing whatever she wants, but she could also be just that good at it.

As soon as that thought pops into my head, I immediately push it aside. No, the way she talked about Preston the few times he was brought up this afternoon makes me believe she’d never do that to anyone after seeing him manipulate her mom all these years.

I’m about to go check on her when she suddenly steps out of the clubhouse. However, her posture and body language have me instantly on guard. She’s curled in on herself, trying to blend in and hide as she carefully weaves through the crowd.

What the fuck?

When she gets to me, she doesn’t step into me like before. Instead, she stops a few feet away and won’t make eye contact with me. Her eyes are misty, and I can tell she’s trying to keep her bottom lip from trembling.

What’d that asshole do or say to her?
