Timber’s hand tightens on my thigh and he pulls me back closer to him. “That’s a story for a different time,” he whispers.

When I turn to look at him, a shadow crosses over his face, but he’s not looking at me. He’s looking at Levi and Reaper. Reaper then turns and I notice scarring on his face and arms. Now that I’m looking for it, I can see some faint scars on Levi’s arms as well.

My heart constricts as I wonder what they’ve gone through to get those scars. And for that matter, is it really safe that I’m here? In the books I’ve read about motorcycle clubs, life is sometimes dangerous. Then again, I could get gunned down or die in a car accident at any point. A shudder runs through me. Or if Preston gets his way, I’ll be sold to Bruce and who knows what my fate would be like in his hands.

Shaking off those thoughts, I turn my focus back to the competition. Levi and Reaper take their positions and I’m surprised they’re so closely matched. Then again, Sasha said Reaper trained a lot with Levi when he was staying here earlier this year for a few months.

My jaw drops as Levi hits her second bullseye. I don’t think Reaper’s hit one, but it seems like he just barely missed them.

“Whoop! Get it girl,” Sasha cries out, which has everyone’s cheering increasing, and not just the volume, as they root for both Levi and Reaper. In the excitement, I can’t help but cheer for them as well.

“Sunshine,” Timber groans, and I pivot looking back at him. His face is tight and pinched. Instantly, I’m alarmed.

“What? What’s wrong? Did I hurt you? Am I too heavy?”

He leans forward and nips my ear. Shivers wrack down my spine and he groans again.

“You’re definitely not too heavy. But if you keep bouncing on me like that, I’m gonna blow my load in my pants like a fucking teenager. You’re sexy as fuck, and I’m trying hard to keep from throwing you over my shoulder and taking you to my room, because I know you aren’t ready for that.”

I feel my face turning beet red. Looking down, I can see he’s even larger than before.

Holy cannoli...

He’s got a monster in his pants. How is it even possible that he’s bigger than before when I felt his hard bulge? How in the world will that even fit in me?

His laughter has me turning even redder, and he nips my ear again. “Don’t worry your pretty little head, Sunshine. When you decide you’re ready, I’ll make sure your pussy’s ready to take me. I’d never hurt you.” His voice is a whisper, but it still has me shivering with anticipation.

Looking into his pale blue eyes, I see the sincerity in there. As well as a promise. Taking a deep breath, I lean forward and kiss him. I know I can trust him whenever I feel ready, but he’s right. I’m not there yet.

He pulls back, kisses my forehead, and turns back to the competition.

As Levi wins the first round, they switch places and start again.

Reaper throws, just barely missing the bullseye, but that’s not where my focus is. As the blade leave Reaper’s hand, Levi’s hands fly to her stomach, and she takes a few steps back. Oh, no. Are the babies okay?

Reaper’s head whips toward her, and in an instant, Reaper and Thor are at her side. Dragon jumps up on the stage to join them.

“What’s wrong? Do we need to take you to the Doc?” Thor demands, his hand cupping her cheek, the other on her stomach.

Levi reaches up and wipes tears away as she shakes her head. “I felt the babies kick for the first time.”

She reaches out to move their hands to her side and moments later, all of their faces light up with huge smiles.

“Well, I think it’s official, Half-pint. My future nieces will be excellent knife throwers, just like their mama.”

Sasha shrieks and launches herself out of her chair, running toward the group. “Move your asses, Godmother coming through!”

Laughter rings out as she quickly scales the stage and she pushes Reaper’s hands aside. I’m sure if she would have done that to Thor and Dragon, they would have had words with her, but Reaper takes it in stride. Seconds later, Sasha’s face lights up and she wraps Levi in a fierce hug that has her rocking back on her heels. Thor steadies her.

As they pull apart, Levi’s face hardens as she talks quietly to Dragon. The atmosphere changes drastically on the stage, and Dragon nods glumly as he looks over at me and then back to her.

Oh no. Does Levi know what Smoke said, too? Oh God. I just want to crawl into a hole and die. How many people heard his lies and hateful words? Do they believe them?

I need to get out of here to gather my thoughts.

Avoiding looking at Timber, I slide off his lap. “I’ll be back. Just gotta go to the bathroom.”

I go to step away, but his hand snaps out to grab my wrist. Not being able to help it anymore, my gaze locks with his.
