I also keep the fact to myself that this isn’t the first time Bruce has tried to take a woman for himself. Once I get my hands on that bastard, he’ll pay two-fold for what he’s done.

“Keep digging and let me know when you have more,” Thor says right as there’s a quick knock on the door and Drae barges in.

“Sorry for not waiting, Prez, but you and Timber better get out here. Shit’s going down with Gigi and Mae.”

Everyone files out of the room quickly, and I can’t help but grin at seeing Mae beating on Gigi.

“What the fuck is going on?” Thor bellows.

When Mae looks up at him, I advert my gaze. I’ve still got to get my shit straight in my head, and I can’t see the hurt on her face again.

After Mae drags Gigi out of the clubhouse, and Patch attends to her cheek and hands, I grab a beer from the Prospect at the bar. I grit my teeth when Timber takes Mae upstairs.

Fuck.

Needing to escape, I head back to my room.

Right as I’m relocking my door, my computer dings and a sigh escapes me. My chest tightens when I see it’s an email from Thor.

Clicking on it, I find attachments for everything Mae brought to Church, including eight attachments which I’m assuming are for each of Lillian’s journals.

God fucking damn. I don’t want to read anything of hers, but I know I need to.

After finishing reading all the documents, I push away from my computer. Getting up, I sink down on my bed, holding my head in my hands.

What the fuck have I done?

Bile rises in my throat and my hands start to shake.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Panic runs through me, making my body shake even more than it was.

My gaze goes to my nightstand, but I don’t open it. As tempted as I am to escape the hurt and shame running through me at what I’ve already done, if I pull out my gun, all that will do is hurt her even more.

Pulling out my phone, I can barely see what I’m doing, but I text the one person I know will be able to bring me back from the ledge.

I hope.

Sighing, I snuggle deeper into Thor. My head is resting on his chest and Dragon’s curled up behind me, holding me. We’re watching a movie in our room here at the clubhouse, but I couldn’t tell you what it is—I’m not paying attention to it. We got the text about an hour ago that Timber and Mae made it to Junction Creek with Andre and the others. I hope the distance will give Jax the time he needs to come to terms with everything.

My fingers play with the fringe on the edge of the blanket covering me as my mind whirls with everything going on with Mae.

Thor kisses my forehead. “Can hear your brain going a mile a minute, Wildcat. Want to talk about it?”

Sighing, I try to put my thoughts in order. “I’m just worried about Jax and how he’s taking everything. I’m antsy, like something’s going to happen, and I don’t know what.”

Both Dragon and Thor’s arms tighten around me and I don’t even have to look to know they’re both sharing one of their ‘twin’ looks.

“Spitfire–”

He’s interrupted by my phone dinging, and I sit up, but Dragon beats me to it. He reaches for my phone on the nightstand and passes it to me.

I don’t even have to open the text as it’s just one word. Frantically, I throw the blanket off me. “I gotta go. I gotta get to him.” Quickly, I scoot off the bed, only to have Thor grab my arm.

“What’s going on, Wildcat?”

I wretch my arm out of his grasp and I whirl on him, pissed that he’s keeping me from going to my brother. “Jax needs me. He texted me our code word.”
