She turns back toward Timber, batting her fake eyelashes at him as she takes a step toward him, but her smile falters when he sneers at her.

“Bitch, for the last time, I’m not fucking interested. I’ve got an Old Lady, who is right here, and I have no intention of stepping out on her. Now back. The. Fuck. Off.”

She pouts and pushes her arms together slightly as she twirls her fingers, which pushes her boobs out further. At this point, I’m surprised the fabric’s even holding them in.

“Oh, you don’t mean that, handsome. We had so much fun together last time. I bet she can’t even keep up with a guy of your caliber.”

I can’t keep from tensing at being reminded of all the women Timber’s been with before.

“Well, you better believe it, because I am his Old Lady and I more than keep him satisfied. Now why don’t you run along before your nipples pop out of that shirt and you scandalize some of the kids in here.”

Timber squeezes my hip and strokes his thumb up and down my side, sliding under my shirt slightly. At the action, I lose some of the tension, but not all. I’m about to say something when Timber squeezes my hip again.

“Like I said before, bitch. I don’t know you and I sure as hell have never fucked you before. Now get the fuck out of here before you get yourself banned.”

“Stacy, do as he says and get the fuck out of here. My sister is, in fact, Timber’s Old Lady, so back the fuck off. Don’t want to see your ass around the clubhouse for the next three months, either,” Kai growls as he levels her a dark look.

Stacy rolls her eyes and huffs as she walks out of the store, her hips swaying.

I lean more into Timber’s side, and he tips my chin up, kissing me.

“Meant what I said, Sunshine. I have no idea who the fuck she was, and I was never with her.”

“I believe you, Timber.” He kisses me again and steers me over to where Kai is at the counter.

“I put the tag for the shirt in the box for the boots. I wanted to wear both the shirt and boots home—I hope that’s okay.”

Kai grins at me as he sets down a bag on the counter. Now knowing that I can’t use my card while here in Junction Creek, I assume Timber has already paid for the items. Though I have every intention of paying him back.

“That’s more than okay, and believe me, you aren’t the first to do that. Now, I have a surprise of my own for you,” Kai says as he pulls out a large box from under the counter.

I can’t help but bounce on my toes in excitement. These last two days have been surreal and add in the fact that I’ve been almost completely accepted into not one, but two clubs is unbelievable. Everyone keeps saying they’re trying to make up for years of birthdays and Christmases since they didn’t know about me, which I am still floored by. While yes, it’s still awkward as heck, it feels good to be loved and wanted again.

After my tenth birthday party, Preston declared there would be no more presents. That I didn’t need material things like that. Not even for Christmas. My grandparents still got me presents, which I had to painstakingly hide, but that ended when they died when I was twelve. It always hurt that all the other kids still got presents from their parents and families for their birthdays, Christmas, and sometimes even on Valentine’s Day or Easter.

But not me.

Looking back now, it was just another controlling stance Preston made over Mom and also meant more money for him to do with as he pleases.

Pushing away those thoughts, Kai lifts the lid of the box and my hands fly to my mouth in shock.

There are two motorcycle helmets inside—a full-face one and one that, I believe, the guys call a skull cap. Both of them have Timber’s nickname for me, Sunshine, painted on them in beautiful calligraphy. There’s even a small sun as the dot for the ‘i’. My fingers trace around the scrollwork as I admire the artist’s skill.

“When I found out you were going to be getting your riding gear here, I had Atlas work his magic.”

My head whips up and my jaw drops in shock. Spinning around, I spot Atlas, knowing he was among the ones that came with us, and he gives me a sheepish grin. I try not to run, but it’s hard to. When I get to him, I give him a hug that he hesitantly returns.

“Thank you, Atlas! Your design is gorgeous!”

He pats my back awkwardly, and I pull back, giving him a small smile. I have a feeling that I just overstepped into his personal space too much.

“Sorry if you aren’t a hugger or if I overstepped.”

He gives me a small, but tight smile, and squeezes my shoulder before heading into what must be a back room or a work area because it’s labeled ‘employee’s only’.

Walking back over to Timber, he wraps an arm around my waist and kisses my temple.

“Did I overstep?” I ask Kai, twisting my hands together in worry.
