Kyle is a neat freak who likes to have his place squeaky clean, on the other hand, I’m not a neat freak, and that has caused friction between us several times.

Now these are the least of my problems, the major issue I didn’t anticipate is the fact that I’m going to start developing feelings for him with each passing day and it doesn’t get any better. It’s as if with our increasing differences my likeness for him keeps increasing.

Living together as a married couple while hiding my true feelings has become a challenge that I never anticipated.

I have no idea of Kyle’s feelings for me because he acts like he has his feelings in check unlike me who most times find myself staring at him, like right now.

As we sit together in the living room, Kyle's attention fixed on the evening news, I steal a moment to observe his striking appearance. His handsome features are illuminated by the soft glow of the TV screen, casting a warm, flickering light on his face. The lines of his strong jaw are defined, and his deep-set eyes remain engrossed in the news report. A subtle smile occasionally graces his lips, adding to his allure.

Despite my intention to focus on painting my nails, I find it challenging to concentrate, distracted by the captivating sight of him engrossed in the program. My nails end up smudged as my attention drifts towards his magnetic presence.

As they go on a commercial break, Kyle clears his throat. "Do I have something on my face?" He turns to look at me and quickly returns my gaze to my nails.

“There’s nothing on your face, I’m just wondering what you find so interesting in this boring news.” I make a show of blowing my nails with my mouth even though they are ruined and I will have to clean out the nail coat, I don’t want Kyle to think that I was truly staring at him.

“How else would you know what is happening in the world if you don’t listen to the news?” He now has his full focus on me.

I raise my head to look at him. “Duh… there’s social media.”

He shakes his head before returning his attention back to the television. Now I’m mesmerized by his action.

“You don’t think that you get news from social media?” I ask.

“This is where most of those supposed news blogs get their news from, so why go there when I can get the information firsthand, the information on those blogs is filtered to suit them.”

I roll my head at him shaking my head. “You’re just old.” He turns his head to look at me. “What did you just say?

“I said you are old.”

A playful smile curls on his lips, and he shakes his head in mild amusement. In a mischievous move, he grabs a throw pillow and flings it teasingly in my direction. Instinctively, I dodge it with a grin, and our laughter fills the room.

For the rest of the evening, I tried my best to avoid staring at Kyle, and after finally being able to polish my nails without smudging them, I decided to call it a night.

“Good night, J,” Kyle calls out from his position on his couch his eyes still fixed on the television.

“You can do this,” I mutter under my breath as I get into my bedroom and start preparing to go to bed.

In just a few months, Kyle will become the CEO of his father’s company and then we can both get a divorce and go back to living our separate lives. I’m sure I’m only feeling this way because of the close proximity. When we stop living under the same roof, I’m sure this thing I’m feeling will disappear.

After finishing brushing my hair and securing it in a ponytail, I notice a notification on my phone. It's a message from my mother, inquiring about how I'm doing. I pick up my phone from the dressing table and type a brief response: "I'm doing okay."

Since Kyle and got married, I've intentionally decreased my communication with my parents. They were insistent on me getting married, and now that I am, I hope they find contentment in that fact.

A knock on my bedroom door startles me, and when I open it, I'm surprised to find Kyle standing there. "Do you need something?" I inquire.

He clears his throat nervously. "Uh... Do you have something planned for tomorrow?"

"Yeah, why?" I respond, curiosity piqued.

"Uhm... please don't hate me for this," he begins, "we have an event that we're supposed to attend together tomorrow. I should have told you about it earlier, but it slipped my mind. I just received a notification on my calendar."

I sigh, feeling a bit frustrated. "Kyle, it's the weekend, and I already have plans with my friends."

"I understand," he says, his expression earnest, "but maybe you could consider canceling your plans with your friends? It's important for us to be seen together at this event as a couple. It'll be our debut in society as a couple."

I let out another sigh, reluctantly agreeing, "Fine, send me the details so I can prepare accordingly."

A wide grin spreads across his face. "Will do." He leans in and plants a gentle kiss on my forehead. "Goodnight, J."
