"No, I have not spoken to your mom at all; I mean apart from the ride to the church in the car with some kids dressed as flower girls and her telling me I need to be wearing a suit."

"I don't understand, Alex." She says simply. "Why are you here?"

"For you, Gabi. To come and find you. You did not answer any of my messages and I have been going crazy. I need you to know how I feel about you. I just need you to give me a chance to tell you."

"Ok." She says, cautiously.

"I am madly, deeply, totally in love with you. I have been for a while. I was just too stubborn to admit it. I love you, Gabi." I say.

She smiles at me, and the boldness of my words fills me with daring hope. I drop down to my knee and reach into my pocket for the ring, holding the box out in front of her. Gabi looks absolutely horrified and grabs my arm, pulling me hard to my feet.

She is furious with me as she drags me off the dance floor and out of the reception area onto the small patio filled with lights.

"You can't do that." She says harshly.

"But I love you, Gabi," I say, my heart stinging in my chest. "I want to marry you," I say, softer.

"But you can't ask someone to marry you in the middle of another wedding; it is sorude. You can't steal the show from the bride and groom." Her eyes are wide with horror.

"So, you dragged me out of there so that I would not propose in front of the newlyweds, not specifically because you did not want me to propose at all?"

"Yes." She's saying, pouting her bottom lip in annoyance.

"So, I can ask you again?" I say, grinning with hope all over again.

"Alex. Wait. No."

My heart sinks. "I need to tell you something first."

She takes a deep breath, and I am too scared to say anything.

"I am pregnant. I found out when I was here, at my family's home. I am pregnant with your baby." She stares at me with concern. She looks scared, worried, and nervous all at once.

"Pregnant?" I say with relief.

"Yes." She says, her eyes locked onto mine.

I pick her up in my arms and hold her close to me. I swing her around in a slow circle, my heart filled with joy. "I am going to be a dad again?" I say, laughing.

She starts to laugh as well. "Yes, you are going to be a dad again."

I put her down and dropped to my knee. "I don't care where we are, Gabi. I have to ask you. Please will you do me the honor of being my wife? Will you marry me?"

Her eyes begin to shine and a wide, beautiful smile spills across her lips. "Yes. A hundred times, yes." She says, falling into my arms.

I stand up, pulling her with me and wrapping my arms tightly around her. I wrap my hand around the back of her neck and kiss her deeply. I cannot believe that two days ago I thought I had lost her forever and today I am here, engaged to the most beautiful woman in the entire world.

She is laughing against my lips, and I pull back to grin at her. She looks incredible. Her eyes are shining with happiness and her face is glowing.

"Shall we go dance?" I say, pulling her towards the reception hall.

When we turn towards the doors most of the guests are pressed against the glass walls watching us. They begin to cheer and clap and laugh and we both blush when we walk inside the hall. Everyone rushes over to hug Gabi and me, welcoming me to the family and pulling us towards the dance floor.

THE END
