“Wherever you want to go.”

I found my smile and pushed back from his chest.

“You might regret that.”

He didn’t.As it turned out, the small hole in the wall Greek restaurant the girls and I had found in Malibu all those years ago was one of his favorites. It was private enough that not one soul looked at us when we entered.

“I forget how much I enjoy anonymity sometimes,” Noah said with a grin as we sat in a back corner.

“I understand how much you love your adoring fans,” I countered.

“I do, but this…” He reached for my hands. “This is nice.”

I smiled at him, giving the waitress my drink order when she arrived at our table with a genuine smile.

“Tell me about your meeting this morning.”

“It was Rothman’s idea.”

“I see you held out for a while.” I chuckled.

“He called me directly this morning. Said if we go into these meetings together, it’s a more decisive selling point. We talked a while, and he apologized.”

“He did?”

“Told me he’d only seen the romantic comedies and was schooled by his daughter who made him sit and watch Sightless Motion.”

Sightless Motion was one of my favorite movies of his. Noah played a blind man given an implant to see if it would improve his ability to see. It was a beautiful film about taking things for granted, and the joys and downfalls of inheriting a sense after twenty years of not having it. It was also a bit of a thriller, and the closest he’d done to action to date. Sightless Motion had been the reason I’d believed he would nail any action role he took on.

“What did he have to say about that?”

“Said it was one of the best performances he’d ever seen.”

There was a triumphant burn of pride in my chest at that. “Finally, Rothman gets what everyone else already knew.”

“I owe his daughter a couple of beers.”

“Yes, you do. Where was your meeting this morning?”

“Married To Joanna Productions.”

“How did it go?”

“Amazing,” Noah said with excitement. “They’re small and relatively new to the business, so they can’t budget the whole thing, but that’s at least a third of it taken care of.”

“A third?”

“With them as a backer, it will make it easier to get another one or two studios on board.”

“I am so damn proud of you.”

Noah bent, his lips pressing against the back of my hand. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Believing in me, in this project, in my acting ability.”

“They’re all things that speak for themselves.”
