He shot me another bright smile, and this one stole my breath away. This breathless beauty wasn’t always there when he smiled at me. Most of the time, it was distracted. This smile… this was the one I’d fallen in love with at the party all those years ago. The confident and adoring smile of a man who was loved and adored by millions. It was one reserved for me while we were together. The same one he’d given me the days we’d stolen alone together on the Darling. I could drown in this feeling and die happy.

“You know, there’s something to be said for having someone who’s brutally honest stroke your ego like that.”

“Because you know I’m not a yes person.”

“Precisely that. Though, I feel confident that I could get you to say yes to some things.”

“Oh? And what would they be?”

Noah opened his mouth to tell me as the waitress appeared to take our order. Noah would put off his request for now, but he would pursue it again later because he liked proving his point too much to forget it.

I had no doubt in my mind my answer would be yes.

ChapterSeven

Thursday, April 7, 2016

As with most things in Hollywood, there was already a buzz about the early stages of the production. Noah told me there were now emails flying back and forth across the studios about who would produce, direct, and star in this once-in-a-lifetime script that somebody had filtered through the suitable vines of the Hollywood gossip mill. The offer for the next backer came while we were in bed watching some of the tabloid trash television speculating on upcoming projects but hadn’t yet mentioned Reckless Redeemer.

Noah was still on such a high from the progress he’d already made he barely noticed.

“Did you know that Rothman—” His phone rang, cutting him off from the billionth piece of advice Rothman had given him. Noah shot me a smile of apology as he rolled across the bed to pick up his cell from the nightstand.

“Jennings.”

I couldn’t hear who was on the other end of the line, but I watched Noah’s handsome face with fascination, taking in his beautifully toned body as he rolled on his back and ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. It astounded me sometimes that I lived the dream of a thousand or more women. Hell, as a teenager, I’d done it a million times, daydreaming about my favorite movie star sweeping me off my feet and falling in love with me. Yet, here I was, living the dream, and it was better than my imagination could have ever conjured on its own.

A nervous laugh from Noah drew my attention back to him. His eyes were on me, gentle and assessing.

“Where?”

The muffled sound on the other end of the line became louder as I shuffled toward him on the bed.

“What time?”

I slipped under the sheet covering his lower half and ran my finger along his dick, making him jerk and hiss down the line.

“Burned myself,” he lied, his voice rougher than it had been.

He tried to keep his rush of breath quiet as I took him into my mouth, but he failed. Noah rushed through the call with grunts and agreements before hanging up and burying both of his hands in my hair to push himself deeper into my mouth.

We resurfaced at closeto noon, showered and dressed, and were ready to go to lunch with a prospective backer for the movie. Marcus wasn’t invited to this one but I’d somehow made the cut. Noah had told me to wear a dress and leave my hair down. He almost made us late when I stepped out of the bathroom in an emerald green strapless dress, makeup done and my hair straightened to sleek perfection.

Noah continued to stare at me in the car as his driver navigated us through the city to the meeting, his hand creeping higher and higher up my thigh until I gripped his wrist to stop him a mere inch from where I wanted him the most.

“If you start that, I’m going to demand you finish.”

“Has that ever been a problem before?” he asked, squeezing the flesh under his palm.

“Not in that sense,” I admitted, leaning forward and pressing my lips to his. I left them there as I continued, his baby finger deviating enough to stroke the cotton covering my clit. “But are you going to be keeping these guys waiting?”

“Fuck.”

“Later,” I whispered, sinking my teeth into his bottom lip, then pulling it with me as I backed away. The lust in his eyes when I released it pleased me more than I’d ever admit, and I was saved from being mauled by my boyfriend when we pulled up outside a seedy-looking bar.

“You’re going to pay for that later, Strawberry.”

I grinned and looked back at him, away from the building with the cheap awning and neon lights. “You promise?”
