“I don’t care where they come from. Can you get it done?”

“Like right now? Are you on the way now?” He said, his voice a little tensed.

“Yes, is there a problem with that?” I looked outside and saw the Jeep driving into Xander.

“No, of course not. I will have them ready when you arrive.”

“Thank you, I will send you the airport address. We should be there in the next few hours, and you know I hate to be kept waiting. Goodbye.”

I ended the call before he could have a chance to say anything.

The car stopped right beside the airport, and the guard standing nearby opened it. I stepped out, adjusted my suit, and headed straight towards my jet, where the pilot and the three female staff patiently waited for me.

I turned and saw the hangar housing the family jets and helicopters.

“Welcome, sir,” Dave said as he slightly nodded.

“Welcome, sir.” The ladies said in perfect sync.

I nodded at them, climbed in the jet, headed straight towards my seat, and fastened my seatbelt.

Soon, I reached for the small briefcase beside the seat, kept it on the table, and opened it. Inside was my MacBook. I took it out and left the suitcase where it was.

I heard small steps beside me and turned to see one of the air hostesses bringing a tray with a glass of champagne.

“Here, sir.”

The sight of champagne made my stomach turn, making me remember I hadn’t eaten. I turned to her and smiled. “Could I please have some food first. I am famished.”

She nodded and tried to leave with the tray.

I grabbed for the champagne and smiled. “I will still take the champagne though, thank you.”

She smiled, “Of course, sir.”

I took a sip of the champagne, smiled, took out the flash drive about the Edwards couple, and inserted it into my system, prepared to know the other details I might have missed during my first check on the family.

They had forced me to leave my busy schedule to go on a wild goose chase. They would probably learn the hard way that nobody says no to a Blackwood, much less the owner himself.

CHAPTER NINE

LUCYEDWARDS

“Why was my brother looking at you like he did when he was leaving?” Ella asked as she jumped on the bed while I changed into more suitable clothing for the drawing.

“I don’t know,” I turned away from her as I wore the oversized shirt and baggy blue pants. “Why do you ask?”

“The way he looked at you and also spoke with you.”

I turned to see her playing with the pillow. “How was the way he spoke to me?

“You know, more respectfully, and he also told you not to call him sir, which was surprising.”

“I didn’t notice.”

“What? You were blushing the entire time in the room.” Ella threw the pillow at me. “Don’t act like I didn’t see you. I was literally beside you while you prepared to be finding something in your phone.”

I sighed and shook my head. If there was one thing I hated about Ella and her family, it was the fact that they noticed the slightest of things around them, and for that, you needed to be extra careful.
