“You must be seeing things, but I do have a bit of a headache from all of the champagne from last night,” I said putting my hand on my forehead and laughing. “And besides, he was right. I am not his staff, and I was really getting bored with all the sir words,” I walked toward the mirror, picked up a brush from the counter, and began to brush my hair.

“Maybe I was seeing things, but I had this thought.”

“You never stop lacking in your thoughts, Ella. What else do you think?” I turned toward her.

“Come on, girl, just listen.”

I chuckled and turned away while packing my hair in the best condition. “I am listening.”

“I think he saw you yesterday and was lost in your beauty.”

I turned toward Ella, surprised. “What?”

“Yes.” She groaned, kneeling on the bed. “That’s the only reason he could be that way. Surely, I am telling you that your dress yesterday was superb, and to think I was the one that chose it, surely it won’t be a bad idea if I venture into fashion. What do you think.”

I smiled and moved towards the table to check my tools which had arrived earlier, “You can be whatever you set your mind to be, sweetheart.”

“Yes, I know it. God, the men couldn’t stop staring at you. I had a hard time getting Phil to have his eyes on only me.”

I smiled and turned toward her then, “I highly doubt that as you looked stunning yourself. Tell me, how did it go with him.”

“Well,” Ella smiled and lay on the bed, “I got him to agree on a date.”

“No way.”

“Yes, way.” She replied while giggling. “He said his job is taxing, but he will find a way to squeeze out time for us.”

“Seems you will finally have a chance to leave this house.”

“I still have doubts, but anyways, I will keep my eyes on him and watch his movements. I want to make sure I am not being played.”

I turned towards her, shocked. “Please don’t tell me you mean you are going to put a tracker on him.”

“It’s not a bad idea, and I want to know the kind of man he is.”

“Christ, Ella, you just met the man yesterday.”

She shrugged and sat up, “I have seen him on the news sometimes.”

I pointed at her. “That doesn’t count, and you know it.”

“What’s wrong with it? I am just protecting my heart from getting broken.”

I sighed and closed my toolbox. “And cursed your brother for looking through my background. You are just as bad as he is.”

“Oh, please don’t bring my brother into this. We are way, way different.” She said while spreading her hands wide.

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, I am,” She nodded. “But you are right, I won’t do it. Maybe after our date, and we decide to give ourselves a chance.”

“Don’t do it at all. It's fucking creepy as heck, he’s a top government worker, and close friends with the Prime Minister. What would happen if he found out?”

“The person will be very discreet. I assure you of that.”

“You are impossible,” I muttered, carrying my painting supplies, while heading towards the family study to set things up.

“I just want to protect my heart from unnecessary heartbreak,” Ella said as she hurried to catch up with my long strides.
