Alluring.

He's all dark, encased in mystery. There was a moment when I wanted to see all of his perfects. He thinks that the scars on his face will turn me away, but he doesn't know that to me, it shows me his true self. Imperfection is the beauty that people judge because they are too blind to see that underneath that imperfection lies the greatest truth.

I follow him outside. The salty sea air whips my hair and dress, but he doesn't stop. He turns and pulls me gently by the hand down a lighted path toward the dock. The wind increases speed, assaulting my ears, and a heated chill slithers down my arms.

A sleek matte black boat is docked. It’s long and looks like a powerful racing boat with four engines.

When we reach the end of the dock, he tosses the bag on the boat and steps in first. Turning around, he motions for me to approach.

He pulls and lifts me like I weigh nothing, setting me in front of him. I look around at the sleek vessel with the same lights as the interior of his home. The solar panels, carefully integrated into the boat's surface, absorb sunlight with precision, channeling it into the four engines that lie beneath. The interior is all sleek black with neon lights. Long screens with digital maps and GPS flicker on, sensing that someone is on the boat.

"Is this yours?"

"It is."

He slides open a dark-tinted door, and I'm greeted with warmth. Dark leather and more strips of neon lighting glow under the carpet of the interior of the boat. It has a small living and dining room, and below are steps that must lead to a private bedroom.

He places the large black bag on the table and turns to the touch screen. He presses a few buttons, and then I hear the hint of a whirl as the engines fire up.

"How are you allowed to have this? Aren't boats gas-powered? Or electrical? I don't see a way for it to be charged so far away from the house."

He leans in, concentrating on the screen, and presses another button. The boat pulls away from the dock and slowly increases speed without causing me to fall backward. "Not this one. It is both electrical and solar powered."

"I never thought a boat like this existed."

"It doesn’t because I designed it. There are only two like this on the planet."

"Oh. T-that's amazing," I stammer.

"The judges on the island don't like it."

I frown, wondering why. It is safe for the planet and the ocean. Why would they not like this? It's amazing technology."

"Why?"

He turns and faces me while I zone in on the word written on the center part of the matte black mask. HATED. I wonder why he would write that when he is getting married.

"Hated can also spell death. Till death do us part," he explains like he could read my mind. "I thought it would be fitting under the circumstances. I'm almost sure I'm not your favorite person. I'm also positive that is how you feel about me–"

"You never gave me a chance."

He looks over at the screen and presses something that causes the boat to stop and anchor because I can hear a buzzing sound as it slowly lowers. "A chance?" he asks.

"To feel you," I blurt, realizing I said too much.

He straightens and turns to face me, and I take a few steps back until the back of my calves hit the edge of a chair.

His head tilts in that creepy way. "I'm right here, Lillith," he taunts, opening his arms out wide. "Come and feel me."

My knees begin to shake, not knowing how to respond.Say something! But my mind comes up blank for a few seconds. The silence stretches between us like a void. But then the only thing I have been wanting since I met him comes to mind.

"I-I want to see your face," I stammer nervously.

He drops his hands to his sides. "Is that all?"

I nod slowly. "Yes."

What else could I offer him right now but my body, and judging from his experience, I have nothing to offer him that would please him. It would happen eventually, but I'm in no rush.
