I frown. "Who?"

"The fortune teller and her prophecy."

I lean back and turn my head toward Ciro. "You believe it."

"I do. I also believed her when she said you two were meant to be." He looks out the windshield, lost in thought. "You're the savior of the people. You will save millions, and Lillith"––he swallows–– "is…everything."

"She cares about you, and I want to thank you for caring for her and Niro."

He glances at me. "Your name fell from her lips when she gave birth to Niro. I held her hand, but it was your name she called out for when she pushed."

I open the door. "And it's her name that I'll kill for." I step out. "Let's get this motherfucker."

We walk up to a building with a side door. It's dark, but Ciro pulls the door open, and we enter a dark hallway on the first floor with doors to old apartments. He looks at the map and nods toward a door with a picture of a red rabbit. I check my gun, ensuring it's on and ready to go.

"Here."

I nod. "Ready?"

"One, two."

"Three."

I kick the door open. The door flies open, hitting the wall. Ciro goes in first, and we come up to a door, and I can't believe my eyes. Ethan is fucking Blair against the wall. Her eyes go wide when she spots us.

"Honey, I'm home," I sing-song.

"It's not what you think!" Ethan cries. I shoot, and his head inflates and implodes.

The little troll thinks I give a shit.

Blair crouches naked on the dirty floor while Ciro aims his gun at her head.

"I-I'm sorry, Kill. It meant nothing," she stammers. Her arms and legs are shaking. I turn my head, waiting for her to look up, but she's cowering. Ciro glances at me briefly, waiting for a signal.

I widen my stance, knowing this can go only one way. "Look at me, Blair." She looks at me with her tear-streaked face and mascara running down her chin. Terrified.

"What did you see in her, huh?" she asks grudgingly. "What was I supposed to do when she took you away from me!"

They say jealousy is a bitch, and it can make you do crazy things. I believe it now. The way I blew the little fucker’s head off. The way Blair betrayed me. Jealousy is like a cancer, and there is only one cure. The hum of the gun drums light up, and then her head implodes when the laser goes off.

"Fuck, Kill. You blew her head off!"

I stare at her twitching corpse on the ground. Blood bubbling on the floor. Brain matter splattered all over the dirty walls like paint.

"Let's go."

Ciro keeps looking back, crossing through the tiny apartment. There is disbelief in his eyes when he turns to leave the hallway. "You killed her."

"Yeah, she wants my wife dead. Now she doesn't have to worry about my son asking me so many questions."

When we reach the exit of the building, Utheans search for the car with their scanners shining a light over it. "Fuck. Can you erase the feed of their scanners?"

"No signal."

"Shit."

I peered through the hole to see how many. "They probably sensed the guns going off."
