“Bry.” His voice now was weary and a warning. “This isn’t such a good idea.”

“Oh, yes it is. Now button those lips and hold the products.”

He shook his head and pressed his lips together.

She squeezed some of the shampoo into her hand. The scent increased. She put the shampoo bottle into Cash’s hands and commanded, “Turn around and squat low so I can reach your hair.”

He looked ready to protest, but amazingly he obeyed. He squatted until the water was up to his shoulders and he was level with her. She massaged the shampoo into his hair.

Cash let out a telling groan, and her heart took off at a gallop. Her fingertips tingled as she buried them in his hair, stroking them along his scalp. The scent was amazing, but touching him like this was even more so. She ran her fingers down along his neck and then back up into his hair. She repeated the action, this time letting her hands slide under his shirt, lingering on his shoulders. Her fingertips, then her entire finger, then her palm ran over the muscles of his shoulders, appreciating and exploring his perfect build.

“Bry,” he said gruffly. He took a loud, shuddering breath. “Stop. Please.”

“Oh … okay.” He didn’t like it? He sure acted like he did. “Lie back and I’ll rinse it out.”

He didn’t answer, but he lay back in the water, still holding onto the other bottles. She ran her fingers through his hair, working the shampoo out and massaging his scalp. She cradled his neck with one palm and feathered her fingertips through his hair over and over again with her free hand.

Cash’s face relaxed a bit as she ran her fingers along his scalp. Then she massaged his neck with both hands. She slid her hands under his shirt and massaged his shoulders, then bravely ran her hands around to his chest.

His eyes popped open, and he stood and turned to her. He looked incredible with his hair wet and slicked back, water droplets trailing down his face and the slight moon lighting up his handsome face.

“Thank you, Brylee.” His voice was almost stiff. He clung to the products in his hands, making his arm muscles bulge.

“Of course. Conditioner?”

“Men don’t use conditioner.”

“Oh boy. Body wash?”

The look he gave her said she was too innocent and he was seconds away from chucking the products and pulling her into his arms. Was that why he’d asked her to stop?

She pumped her eyebrows at him. “Take that shirt off and?—”

“No.” Cash cut her off with a sharp command. “No, Brylee. We can use the body wash … separately. I am not taking my shirt off.”

“You boys ruin all a girl’s fun.” She tried for a Natasha accent.

Cash’s gaze got sharp and heated again. “Have I ever told you I love your red hair?”

“You do?” She stared at him and then admitted, “I thought men didn’t like red hair.”

“Excuse me? Who told you that?”

She swirled her hands through the water and didn’t meet his gaze. “My ex. When he broke up with me.” She swallowed and was grateful that the cameras weren’t rolling. “He told me that a gorgeous redhead was equal to an average blonde or brunette.”

“What?” Cash’s voice was as forceful as she’d ever heard it. “What kind of idiot …?” He pushed to the side of the pool and away from her.

Brylee’s stomach tumbled. What kind of idiot? Her or Mark? Her for dating Mark?

Cash set all the products on the bank and then came back to her. He didn’t touch her, but he stared deeply into her eyes. “Brylee. You are the most beautiful woman in the entire world to me.”

“Even with red hair?”

“The red hair enhances your beauty.” He smiled slightly. “I can admit to you, and if you tell anyone I will silence you…” He lifted an eyebrow and smirked. “But I have had a slight crush on Natasha Romanoff since Avengers first came out.”

“Are you serious?” At his nod, she flung herself at him and hugged him fiercely. “I love her! She’s like my hero.”

He edged back slightly and said, “Brylee … you are far more beautiful and impressive to me than Natasha.”
