“Sloane.”

I met his eyes. There was longing in his voice when he said my name. My lips parted, and I drew in a breath. My fingers twitched as I leaned toward him, but I pulled back at the last moment and looked away.

Lincoln started to pace. “My dad has brought a lot of women into the pack. But he took his time searching for you. I think he knows. He knows that we have imprinted, and there is a good chance he knows about us and Sawyer, too.”

“But he told me I could only be with you.” I didn’t need to ask. He had done this intentionally. It was like he got off on making everyone else’s life a living hell.

“He wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to grow our pack. He wants to expand our bloodline.” He stopped pacing and gazed at me for a long moment before looking away. “He will expect me to take other mates.”

My head snapped up, and my mouth fell open as my heart skipped a beat.Mine!I curled my hands into tight fists until my fingernails were pricking my palms.

“I know. I don’t want another woman. I’ve never… I’ve never touched one…not like I did you.” Red crept over his cheeks, and he looked away, clearing his throat. “You are the only woman I will ever want.”

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.

He knew this was crap. Yet, he did nothing.

Lincoln scrubbed a hand over his face. “Sit down.” He motioned to the bed, and when I just stared at him, he added, “Please.”

I moved to the bed and took a seat on the mattress. I stared at my palms, looking at the spot where my nails had dug into my skin. I’d almost drawn blood.

Lincoln kneeled in front of me. He reached out like he might touch me, but then pulled his hands back and put them on his knee. “Sloane, Sawyer and I will do whatever we must to protect you. You are our mate. The only woman we will ever want.”

My wolf swelled at his admission. Tears burned my eyes, and I ran my hand under my nose as I sniffled. This whole imprinting business had me all sorts of messed up.

It was crazy to be swooning over a guy I barely knew, especially considering I was a prisoner here and his father was a sociopath.

Lincoln stood and moved away from me, going to the window. I watched him as he stared outside. He raked his hand through his hair and then turned back to me.

His blue eyes were wide and his jaw set. He put his hands into the front pockets of his jeans and took a step toward me. “Sawyer and I have a plan.” He looked at the door, his brows knitting together before turning back to me and taking a seat next to me.“My father is out of control. We are working on a way to stop him.”

The breath whooshed out of my lungs. Whether from relief or fear of what this meant, I wasn’t sure.

“Okay,” I said, my voice a hushed whisper.

I leaned forward and held my breath, waiting for him to tell me more.

Lincoln got up again and went to his dresser. He opened one of the drawers and pulled out something before turning back to me. It was a laptop.

He took a seat next to me on the bed, opened up the device, and scanned his fingerprint to sign in. The computer opened to a black screen with a jumbled mess of words that didn’t make much sense.

I leaned forward and squinted. It didn’t make sense because it was code. “What is this?”

Lincoln shuffled the laptop on his lap. “I built a site, kind of like the dark web, but for shifters. Shifters who are working against my father. It’s a way for us to communicate and plan. It’s all anonymous, so no one knows who anyone is.”

“Oh.” I looked from the screen to him and then back again.

“Sawyer and I are trying to coordinate with other alphas to come up with a way to attack on all fronts.” Lincoln hit a few keys, and another screen came up.

This screen I recognized. It was the website for the brewery that Alpha Dane owned. It was how this pack made their money.

Most packs did something to earn income for the benefit of the pack. My family had a couple of different small businesses. I helped my mom with medicinals. She was also a licensed midwife and delivered babies both in the pack and out of it.

But what did any of this have to do with the brewery Pack Wolf Blood ran?

Lincoln must have sensed my confusion because he continued. “This is my website. I’ve always liked doing things behind the scenes.”

“You built the website?” I asked, pointing to it as I watched the slideshow move through different offerings of beer available.
