When I turn towards it, Adrian pokes his head out of a nearby room and motions to me.

He disappears inside, and I stand up.

Adrian pulls me into the room, kicks the door shut and presses me up against the wall. I barely have time to react when his lips descend on mine.

He tastes so delicious. I missed this so much. I whimper when he places one hand on my waist. The other frames my face.

His touch is electric, and the effect is instant.

I know I’m supposed to be mad at him, but I can’t help myself. When he kisses me, I kiss him back with just as much fervor and passion.

Like I need him to be able to breathe.

His hands move down to my waist, and he hoists me up. I wrap my legs around his torso. He rubs himself against me, his days’ old stubble prickly against my skin.

My breath hitches in my throat when he wrenches his lips away from me and presses hot, open-mouthed kisses down the side of my neck and over my jaw.

My head is spinning, and I have to hold on tight to Adrian to keep from falling.

Every last part of me burns as he touches me.

Without warning, he sets me back down on my feet and presses his forehead to mine. “I’ve missed you.”

I release a deep, shaky breath. “I missed you too.”

Adrian rubs his nose against mine, and I hear the smile in his voice. “I can tell.”

I squeeze my eyes shut. “That was…intense.”

Adrian laces his fingers through mine. “That was nothing, trust me.”

He draws back and reaches into his pocket. Wordlessly, he hands me a note with a pressed flower in it. “You don’t have to read that right now. I just wrote you something.”

I smile, and my heart swells to twice its size. “You wrote me a love letter?”

Adrian clears his throat. “Something like that.”

I tuck it into my pocket and link my fingers over his neck. “I’ll read it later.”

Adrian’s hands circle my waist, and the smell of him and a spicy cologne wash over me, unfurling some of the knots in my stomach. “I’m sorry about the past few days. I’ve had a lot on my mind.”

I blow out a breath. “It’s okay. You’re coming to the hike, right?”

Adrian pulls back to smile at me. “I’m going to try my best to make it.”

I pull him down for another kiss, and he growls into my mouth, sending shivers racing up and down my spine. All too soon, his phone buzzes, and I have to remove my arms.

He gives me one last smile over his shoulders and pats down his hair. Then he steps out into the hallway and glances down both sides.

On my way past, he gives my ass a firm squeeze, and I swat him away.

The rest of the day, I find myself smiling and humming, feeling ever so joyful.

When Savannah calls, I am still distracted. I barely hear a word she says.

That night, after I go for a quick jog around the ranch, I stop at the main cabin. I am stretching my arms over my head and peering at the sign-up sheet for the hike when Adrian walks past.

He waves and flashes me a million-dollar smile. My knees go weak. I lean against the closest wall and fan myself.
