“You’re gonna catch pneumonia,” I say, keeping my eyes firmly on his.

I hardly recognize my voice. It’s so husky, I could make good money selling phone sex.

“With the way you’re looking at me, I feel anything but cold. Fuck, you have no idea the things I want to do to you right now,” he mutters, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

Judging by the heat and lust blazing in his eyes, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work that out.

The undeniable urge to sink to my knees and come face to face with his manhood is overwhelming.

How am I still standing?

My pulse races in my ears as I force myself to not let my gaze waver.

“Drop your eyes, Sunshine. See what you’re doing to me,” Ade taunts, his voice so deep it reverberates through the air, wrapping around me like a velvety embrace.

My throat constricts, making it hard to swallow.

An invisible force has cranked up the temperature, transforming my face into a furnace. Heat is radiating off me. I fan my shirt away from my body to cool down.

My gaze is still focused on Ade’s warm, brown eyes, but the temptation to let it drift lower is becoming impossible to resist.

Is that what Eve felt like before she bit into the apple?

Remember how that panned out for her?

But the energy between us swirls like a tornado, destroying the defenses I’ve so painstakingly built around myself to shield me from this crazy attraction.

“You wouldn’t keep a low profile walking into that camp naked,” I whisper throatily. “You would draw attention big time.”

Really big.

A clearing of a throat behind me breaks our staring spell, and I jump back. Glancing over my shoulder, I have to blink a few times.

Claudette.

And she’s completely naked except for a small shoulder bag—it hides nothing.

“Why are you wearing clothes, El?” she asks, giggling at my stunned expression.

Shouldn’t she ask why Ade is naked?

I’m blocking her view of him… mostly anyway, he’s taller and broader than me. The vital parts are hidden from her sight and for some reason I’m fricking glad. I don’t want her to see what’s only meant for me.

Whoa, Missy.

Where did that come from? He’s not yours to claim.

He could be, but you stubbornly refuse to take the chance.

It’s for his own good that I need to stay strong, I remind myself. But the remains of my defenses are growing weaker and weaker.

I turn around to face Claudette fully, hearing the rustle of clothes behind me.

Thank God, Ade is getting dressed again.

“Where are your clothes?” I ask, still flustered.

“Behind a tree,” she says as she strides past us, unfazed by her nudity.
