“It’s not what you think.”

“How stupid do you think I am?” She couldn’t believe his gall.

“Alison, please. Sit down and let’s talk about this.”

“There’s nothing to talk about.” Only her anger kept her from falling apart. She was such a fool. She’d been so sure that he’d been starting to truly care about her but all he’d been doing since the beginning was lying to her.

“Nothing happened on our wedding night. Nothing. At all. Not with you and not with Dahlia or anyone else.”

“Don’t you dare bring this back to me.”

“Why not? It was your fault that I was here.”

“My fault?” She’d never wanted to hit someone as much as she did now. “You’re an adult. You chose to come here and to look for someone to fuck on your wedding night.”

“Yes, I did. I should’ve…would’ve rather been home fucking my wife but she didn’t want me.” He almost shouted. “She didn’t even consider me a man.”

“I’m not apologizing for that again. I wasn’t the one who left you to be with my ex.”

“I had no idea she was here.”

“Oh, lucky you.”

“Hardly.”

“That’s right. Ethan stopped your luck.”

“You annihilated my luck. Ethan only stopped me from alleviating my blue balls.”

“Go to hell.”

“Why not? Apparently, I bought an express pass when I married you.”

“Oh…oh…you…” She had no response to that. She wasn’t the reason he was in hell. This was his fault. Not hers.

He opened the door and stepped into the hallway. “Are you coming or are you going to stand there all night pretending to be a fish?”

She clamped her mouth shut before saying, “I’m not going anywhere with you.”

“Then I guess you don’t want to go home. Maybe you want to go back into the Club and find your old high school boyfriend.”

“College and he wasn’t my boyfriend but maybe I should. At least Dan’s faithful.” She pushed past him.

“Do it and the contract is void.” He followed her down the hallway.

“Ha. Did you even think of that when you went looking to cheat? Mr. Business almost broke the contract before twenty-four hours were up.”

“I’d never break a contract.”

“Never? Maybe you should re-read it because it started when we married, not when we consummated the wedding vows. You owe Ethan a great big thank you because if he hadn’t stopped you, you would’ve broken this contract.” She shot him a glare. “I’d be a very rich woman right now and wouldn’t ever have to let you touch me again if Ethan knew how to mind his own business. I need to have a private word with him and—”

“That’s not going to happen.” He grabbed her arm, his grip almost painfully tight.

“You don’t own me.” She yanked on her arm, trying to get away from him. “I can talk to whomever—”

He grabbed her other arm and pulled her to his chest, lifting her off her toes. “You are my wife.”

“Fake wife.” She was furious but her traitorous body didn’t care. All it knew was that this man could give it pleasure beyond anything she’d ever had. She tried to ignore the feel of his hard body as he let her slide back down to her feet.
