“I’ll wait here because I don't trust you.”

“I guess we’re in the same boat then.” Alison’s eyes glistened.

“Fine. I’ll be the bigger person in this.” He leaned across the desk until his face was only inches from hers. He wanted to shout halleluiah when her eyes dropped to his lips. She must've missed him as much as he missed her. No, that was fucking impossible, but he was glad she missed him at least a little. “I’ll trust you. You said ten minutes. I’m giving you ten minutes.”

He turned and walked out of the room. He went into the kitchen and started pulling the groceries out of the refrigerator and putting them on the table.

He glanced at his watch when the microwave dinged. It’d been almost fifteen minutes. He was going to drag her out of that office. He headed for the door as she came around the corner, slamming into him. His arms instantly wrapped around her, steadying her, but he didn’t let her go. Instead he moved closer, loving the soft press of her body against his.

“Sorry. I almost knocked you down.” She stared up at him but didn’t try to move away.

“I’m not.” He lowered his head. He had to kiss her. It’d been too long since he’d tasted her, felt her breath mingle with his, swallowed her moans as she moved beneath him.

She turned her head and stepped away. He let his arms drop to his side.

“This smells good.” She walked to the table and took a seat. “I’m starving.”

He sat across from her and they both began filling their plates.

“Thanks for reminding me to eat.” She tore off a piece of her roll and popped it into her mouth.

“It’s my job to take care of you.” He couldn’t pull his eyes away from her lips as her tongue darted out to clean off a crumb. He wanted to wrap a biscuit around his dick and let her feast.

“Uh…we need to talk about last night.” She took a bite of potato salad.

“Why? Do you want to fight again?”

“No.”

“Then let’s talk about something else.” He buttered his roll.

“Okay. How about the fact that I woke up with you in my bed?”

“Nothing to talk about there. You’re my wife and until you’re not, we sleep together.” He stuffed mashed potatoes into his mouth, not tasting them at all.

“But I didn't want to sleep with you last night.”

“We didn't have sex.” He took a bite of the chicken. She should be thanking him for that. It hadn’t been easy to keep from waking her with his dick.

“That’s not the point.”

“Oh, it’s a bigger point than you understand.”

“No, the point is that you lied to me and I’m not sleeping with a man I can’t trust.”

“Apparently, we’re talking about last night.”

“No, we’re talking about you sneaking into bed with me when you knew I didn’t want you there.”

“You didn’t want me there because you were being stupid.”

“I was not being stupid. You lied to me.”

“I did not lie to you.” He almost threw his fork down on his plate. “I told you nothing happened and that’s exactly what happened. Nothing.” He was so sick of this argument.

“Because—”

“It doesn’t matter why.” He hadn’t done a damn thing.
