“You have a bar in your room? I could’ve been drinking all this time.” She moved closer to him without thinking. “Why didn’t you tell me you had a bar in your bedroom?” It seemed like something she should know.

“Do you want me to answer all your questions?” He sent her an amused look over his shoulder. “Or just a few?”

“There weren’t that many.” Here came the jabs about how much she talked.

“Okay. Yes, I obviously have a bar in my bedroom, and it never crossed my mind to tell you about it.” He handed her a drink. “I would’ve gladly shown it to you if you’d ever given me the slightest hint that you were interested in seeing my bedroom.”

“Why would I want to see your bedroom? You were my boss.” She took a big gulp of her drink.

“We worked many late nights together.” He poured himself a drink. “Stranger things have happened between two”—his eyes roamed down her body again—“attractive adults.”

“Please.” She gulped down her drink, trying to chase away the tingly feelings his dark eyes and husky voice were causing. “You would’ve said something like, Alison, you don’t need to see my bedroom. You need to work. Stop dallying and get working.”

“I assure you.” He took the glass from her and put it on the cabinet. “I wouldn’t have said any of those things if you’d wanted to see my bedroom.” He took a sip of his drink, his eyes on her breasts.

“Right. Maybe not at first.” She moved away from him. It was getting hot over there. “But then things would’ve been awkward between us and I don’t do one-night stands.”

“Never? You don’t have even one passionate mistake in your past.”

“No. Okay. Maybe one but it doesn’t really count.”

“Why is that?” He leaned against the dresser near the bar.

“It was college. Nothing that happens in college counts.”

“Did you have sex?” His voice grew deeper, seeming to make that last word a living entity in the room.

“Ah, yeah.” She swallowed. “Kind of.”

“Kind of?” His brow rose. “What is kind of sex? Oral? Anal?”

“No. Oral isn’t sex and no, no way for anal.”

“You’ve never…”

“No and I don’t want to.”

“Are you sure?” His eyes seemed to glow with a promise of pleasure she’d never imagined.

She opened her mouth, but the words wouldn’t come out. She coughed to clear her throat. “Yes. I mean. Yes, I’m sure that I don’t want to.”

“I’ll have to see if I can change your mind.” He put his drink down and took a step toward her.

“Wait.” She stepped back. “Let’s talk about this.”

“I don’t think we need to talk right now.”

“I do. I mean we’re married, but we’re only married for the purposes of procreation, right?”

“Yes.” He continued toward her.

“Then those things aren’t necessary.” She backed away again.

“Those things?”

“You know.” Her words slipped out as a whisper. “Oral. Anal.”

“So, you don’t want me to bury my face between your legs and kiss you until you come.”
