“Promise.” He leaned back. “I’ll try my best.”

“That’s all I can ask for.” I kissed his shoulder and sat back and looked out into the forest surrounding the hotel.

“So, you.” Sean took my hand and sat it on his thigh. “I guess Ricky’s your favorite now.”

My heart skipped a beat.

“Seanie,” I sighed. “You know I love all of you the same.”

“Yeah, I don’t think that’s true,” he chuckled. “But, I’m next, right?”

I shook my head.

“I’m happy for the two of you. If he breaks your heart, I’m going to kick his ass.”

I giggled.

Sean side-eyed me. “You don’t think I could? You be surprised what a man will do to protect the person he loves.”

Loves.

The guys walked out of the hotel.

“Little Tree, you okay?” Ricky knelt in front of me. He took my other hand and kissed it. “We were just being stupid.”

“Yeah, y’all are good at it.” I stood up and hugged him. He kissed the top of my head and hugged me back.

Sean stepped away and joined the other guys.

“Do you really have to go?” I wiped a stray tear on his T-shirt.

“I’m afraid so.” His hand ran up and down my back. “It’s either that or take off for Canada.”

“Canada’s not bad.” I looked up.

“Have you ever been?” He brushed the hair away from my face.

“No, but I’ve seen pictures.” I bit my lip.

“It’s cold, like scary cold.” He kissed my cheek. “But I’ll take you there someday.”

“Just not today?”

He kissed my other cheek. I looked over at the guys who had disappeared.

“Not today.” His lips landed on mine. It was firm and full of passion like he didn’t have enough time to say what he wanted to say, but the kiss pretty much covered it. “You behave yourself, Little Tree.” He kissed me again.

“No promises.”

He chuckled, took my hand, and we walked across the parking lot. He gave Michael a quick hug and passed me off to him. He hugged the rest of the guys. Roman handed him the keys to the car. “You take care of them.” I heard him whisper as they embraced. Ricky took the keys and opened the car door. “All of you take care of her.”

Michael rubbed my arm. “You can count on it.”

“I can take care of myself, you know.” I placed my hands on my hips. “I’ve been doing it for years.”

They all laughed. Even Roman. “Whatever you say, Little Tree.” Roman nodded. I rolled my eyes.

“Can you work on that with her?” Ricky turned to Roman. “It’s annoying, right?”
