I laugh. “That bad, huh?”

“Let’s just say it’s the last time I’m doing that.”

“Same for Hunter,” I say with a wink. I open the fridge and pull out the cold bottles. “Can you pass these out to the others?”

“Not a problem.” He picks up a half dozen bottles in his big hands.

“Please, make sure Marcus drinks one of those.”

“He needs it. He’s been running circles around us.”

I laugh. “I’m glad you can harness that energy.”

“Oh, don’t worry. I’ve got him neck deep in sorting boxes at the moment.”

“You’re a good man.”

He flashes us a cocky grin and heads back out to the moving truck.

Maddy breathes. “Damn. A lot of women are going to be disappointed at the auction next year.”

Hunter laughs as he leans a shoulder against the doorway. “I did bring a lot of money…”

I gasp. “You! Don’t even talk about that.”

His mouth tips into a cocky grin. “I’m worth every penny.”

I cut my eyes to Maddy. “See what I have to put up with?”

“You’ll appreciate my value even more when I build that addition on the house.”

My eyes go wide. “Addition?”

He strolls over and plants a hot hard kiss on my mouth. “Yep, I’ve already got the specs and am lining up the equipment I’ll need. Master bedroom suite on the top floor.”

My smile is so big it barely fits on my face. “Aren’t you just full of surprises.”

He winks. “Oh, you have no idea.”

EPILOGUE 2

Maddy answers on the first ring. “Is there a baby?”

“Not yet.”

She laughs. “Darn all this waiting.”

“Tell me about it.” I rub my hand over my gigantic belly. Hunter’s a big guy and his son is going to be too if the size of me is any indication.

I waddle over to the window and push back the curtain. Hunter’s talking and pointing as Marcus uses the saw to cut sections of wood for a new handrail.

“How are things up there?”

“Sheila’s doing well. Her retina surgery went great. Hunter has been working on modifications to her house to make it easier to get around.”

“That’s great. And how are things going with the boutique?”

“I’m so blessed to have Nanette. She’s just wonderful. I take care of the office side and she runs the shop like a champ.”
