“We’d love that.”

Hanging up, I’d forgotten all about Noah when he types. Have you left him already?

No.

Noooo?

It’s my private life. None of your business.

Eventually, I’ll tell him, but a part of me enjoys being the woman leading a double life. It won’t be long before I reveal my true identity.

Inside the conference room at the compound, multiple screens display the pandemonium among the leaders of the Brotherhood–in their offices, cars, even their homes.

“It’s impossible for them to know who we are,” one of them says.

We snicker, enjoying the show. They will find out soon enough; we’ve already uncovered their identities.

“The program we planted is rapidly draining their bank accounts,” Kieran says.

“Their stocks are in a free fall, thanks to a little market manipulation,” Hayden adds.

“And on the streets, they’re already compromised,” Cato says.

“A slander campaign is already being put together. Everybody will know and whoever is working with them will be on our shit list.” I grin.

Kieran smirks. “And their businesses will fall right into our hands.”

We dealt with every problem they threw at us. They should have stayed hidden like the rats they are. There are too many leaks for them to contain.

“They could get more aggressive. Desperate men always do,” Hayden says.

“Let them come. We’re ready,” I reply.

As I leave, thoughts of my wife have me speeding back home. I am floating on a high, making everything better.

I find Violet in the backyard, predictably fussing over Luna. My chest tightens at the sight of the perfect woman in front of me: she is unique in so many ways. What she ignites in me is so damn potent. I am completely addicted, and I don’t even care. I’ve reached the point of no return.

“Daddy’s home.” She smiles at me over her shoulder, and it takes everything in me to stay upright.

Sitting down, I gently pull her between my legs. Violet nestles against me. It’s been a few days since I tried to fuck her like she meant nothing, knowing full well she means everything. I move a strand of her hair and kiss her neck, that sweet spot that drives me absolutely mad. Her breath hitches, but she doesn’t stop me. Her head still drops, though.

I tilt her face to me. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m afraid.”

She sighs as if it pains her to admit it.

“Of what?”

“Of you leaving again, going back to your old self when things get more serious. Not being what you want in bed.”

I chuckle and she pierces me with a serious look.

Is she crazy? She’s fucking perfect. “Violet . . .”

“No, you don’t understand.”

“What don’t I understand?”
