“I’ve started to talk about my past.”

“Hey, that’s good. Opening up is necessary if you want your marriage to work.” She grips my arm. “Relationships are a work in progress. Building your life together is what truly counts. Everything is temporary, but love is the only thing we can’t fight against.”

“Go have fun and bring me my woman back in one piece. She’s quite fond of speed.”

“She should definitely start taking driving lessons.”

“Do not put that thought in her head, especially knowing how dangerous it is right now.”

Her eyes well up. “Oh, Cam. You’re falling in love.”

“Why the fuck are you crying?”

“And you didn’t even deny it.”

I glare at her. It would be impossible to reason with her. That’s why I don’t say anything else.

The women speed off in their carts. Violet is in the lead with Chiara.

I let myself into Kieran’s place. Seeing him, Cato, and Hayden with their kids, knowing they can skin someone alive is fucking hilarious. Hayden has a tiara on his head, drinking imaginary tea from a tiny cup with his daughter. Kieran built a house out of small wooden pieces, only for Aiden to knock it down and crawl all over them. Cato incessantly scans the entire perimeter while putting together a puzzle with his daughter. Celia tries to smash a piece that doesn’t fit, and he explains in the softest voice that it’s not the right one. She just tries harder.

“Look at you, all domesticated,” I chuckle. They scowl at me but keep playing with the kids. It’s the first time this image doesn’t put me off. I wonder what it would be like to have my own.

“That right there.” Kieran points at my face.

My brows knit together. “What are you talking about?”

“When these two got their women pregnant, I thought I didn’t want that, having to share my woman. But one day, I saw Cato and Hayden with their kids, and I wanted that—a piece of me and Aurora.”

“Forget it.”

He chuckles. “I think I got your sister pregnant that very day.”

“Ah, fuck you. You know I hate imagining that.”

“Then stop imagining me fucking my wife.”

Aiden crawls up my legs. I pick him up, only for him to fuss, so I put him back down. It’s like he wants to know I’ll hold him just in case. He’s one proficient emotional manipulator.

“Let’s head to the compound,” I suggest.

“Once we begin attacking the Brotherhood, they’ll know we found out. Surprise won’t be on our side,” Hayden says.

“That’s why we won’t make a move until we have all the leaders identified.”

“That might take too fucking long,” Cato groans. Hayden votes for Kieran’s plan. Cato and I just want to rip them apart one after the other.

After we leave the kids with Tamara, Aurora and Kieran’s trusted housekeeper, we head to the compound.

Our team shows us a picture of names and images of the Brotherhood’s potential leaders from the communication between them. “Make that bigger and project it on the wall,” I say.

I stare at the image and point at the pattern I see. “They’re structured hierarchically.”

“So that means the top level never meets in person with the subordinates, and they use middlemen.”

Kieran asks for more information. We turn on the recordings a team of our men got during a stakeout. A man can be heard repeating what sounds like the date of someone’s birthday. Hayden is deep in thought. “Maybe that’s the code for a top-level meeting.”

“It has to be. They don’t say when, where, or at what time it’s being held,” Cato adds.
