Beckett has only just unlocked the door when Piper, Jane, and Victoria spill into the room as if they own it.

“If you’re naked, put clothes on, because we’re coming in!” Piper calls cheerfully as she jumps onto the counter in the kitchen and begins to swing her legs.

“You’re already in, menace,” Zane points out, his arms tightening around me.

Piper merely sticks out her tongue at him.

“Is there a reason you guys decided to break into our dorm?” Landon asks dryly. He folds his arms over his chest and levels his silver glare on first Victoria, then Jane, until finally landing on Piper.

“It’s not breaking in if you unlock the door for us,” Victoria points out primly, tossing a strand of silky red hair over her shoulder.

“That’s true.” Piper’s only half paying attention to the conversation at hand. Her focus has shifted to a plate of Christmas cookies on the counter. “What the fuck are these?”

“Genitalia-mas cookies!” Zane answers cheerfully as Piper holds up a penis-shaped cookie with green veins and red pubic hair.

A blush stains my cheeks, especially when Piper throws me a “what the fuck?” look.

The five of us made cookies a few days ago, when all the Christmas supplies were on sale in the stores. We started off actually trying, but when Landon’s angel began to look like a pair of breasts, well…

Piper bites down on the dick cookie, pauses, then cocks her head to the side with a curious expression. She chews slowly for a moment before she spears me with a look. “This is the first dick I’ve ever swallowed, and I have to say…it’s not that bad.”

“So why are you guys here?” Dom asks, returning from the bedroom he’d shoved the murder board into.

“Not happy to see us?” Victoria’s lilting accent holds nothing but amusement as she quirks an elegant brow.

Some girls may be jealous of the relationship between her crushes and her closest girlfriends, but not me. I trust the guys implicitly, but I also trust my three friends. Piper, for one, likes girls, Victoria has recently begun dating a boy back home in France, and Jane has only ever regarded my guys as annoying big brothers. I’m ecstatic that my favorite people are friendly with each other.

Piper levels her blue eyes on me and flashes a bright smile. “Are you going to the water lock-in tonight?”

I blink at her, sure I heard her wrong, but she continues to grin up at me like the cat that ate the canary. “The water lock-in?”

“It’s a tradition for all seniors,” Jane butts in, fiddling nervously with the hem of her shirt. She’s plaited her frizzy brown hair into two French braids that just reach her shoulders, though tiny strands stick up in all directions, like she stuck her finger into an electrical socket.

“We spend the night in the natatorium,” Piper continues eagerly, her eyes brimming with excitement that has been absent for far too long. Her legs begin to sway erratically as she kicks against the countertop. “Technically, we’re supposed to ‘break in’—” she makes air quotes around those two words and rolls her eyes— “but the entire staff knows about it.”

“We’ll have a barbecue, relax in the hot tub, swim in the pool…” Victoria waggles her eyebrows suggestively. “It’ll be a blast.”

“So, you obviously have to go,” Piper finishes.

A party with all of my classmates?

My initial reaction is to decline the invitation. I’ve never really gotten along with the other students—I’m too shy to make friends unless they force themselves on me, like my three besties and my guys—and I don’t have the best track record when it comes to parties.

However, this might be the opportunity we need to uncover information about which students are working with The Divine One. I’m sure alcohol will be flowing freely, and that will loosen a lot of lips.

Perhaps Beckett can steal a phone or two…

“We’re a little busy—” Landon begins, but I cut him off before he can finish.

“It sounds fun. What time does it start?”

All four of my guys turn to stare at me incredulously. Even Victoria and Jane seem shocked by my easy compliance.

Piper squeals and practically lurches off the counter, throwing herself at me.

“Oh my god. It’s going to be so fun! You can stop by my room and look at some of my bathing suits, if you need to borrow one.” She seems to realize that she hasn’t actually answered my initial question and backtracks. “It starts at seven! But stop by our dorm by six. No, five. No, four?—”

“She gets the idea, Pipes.” Victoria rolls her eyes, but there’s a fond smile playing at the edges of her lips. She grabs at Piper’s shoulder and begins to drag the overenthusiastic girl away from me. “Don’t make her change her mind with your constant babbling.”
